Dear little brother,
Being your big sister will forever be one of my biggest blessings.
Even though we have lived 9 hours away from each other for the past three years, you have served as one of my biggest role models in life. I have loved watching you become a "little" grownup.
This past year has brought us some battles that neither of us would've been able to get through without each other. It has made me extremely thankful for you and our family.
I'm sorry that I have missed some of the best years of your life thus far. You have accomplished so much.
When you were about to be a freshman in high school I told you that you should take advantage of every opportunity you have. Go to every dance, attend every sporting event and be involved. All right, I forced you to go to every high school dance. And I loved watching you in all of your Friday night football games, at least the ones I could make it to.
Now that you're about to be a freshman in college and I'm going into my senior year, I want to remind you of those things again.
You have served as someone to look up to for so many people and that makes me even more proud to be your big sister. I want you to always remember that you are special and you will do so many great things in this life, which has only just begun for you.
Thank you for letting me rant about my issues, reminding me that little things don't matter in the big scheme of things, and car singing/rapping with me when I'm home for a weekend.
As you begin your own college journey in the fall at a rival school, you need to remember these things.
1. Grades do not define you.
They are important, but what you do with the opportunities you're given in school are important as well.
2. Branch out.
High school is an extremely small puddle compared to the ocean that is college. Be kind to everyone and get to know them. You are going to meet some of your very best friends.
3. Call your sister every week.
But now that I'm closer, maybe I'll just randomly show up. (This is your warning.)
4. Take advantage of every opportunity you have.
Some of the opportunities college brings to you are once in a lifetime. You would be a fool to not take advantage.
5. Enjoy yourself.
College will be the best years of your life. I can't wait for you to make your own memories.
You make me the proudest big sister and I can't wait to brag on you even more for all of the awesome things you will do in college.
I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby bro you'll be.
Cheers to you little brother!
Love,
Your overprotective, loud, annoying but very proud big sister.
