To those who have lost someone they love:
I believe that dealing with the loss of a loved one is something that nobody should have to go through. Both losing a family member or a close friend are horrifying to go through. Losing someone you love leaves a hole in your heart, something that can never be filled quite the same as it used to be. No one can take their place and fill up the hole in your heart. It is undeniably one of the worst things to experience in life.
However, death is a part of life. There is no easy way to cope with losing someone near and dear to your heart, and we should never think there is. We miss their energy and comfort and know we will have to face the world without them. These alone are a great challenge. Carrying the heartache of not having them around can have an undeniable hold on you. Mourning their loss, and trying to get through the pain and heartache of not having them around is a horrific experience.
Here is what we have to realize: dwelling on what happened (things we could have done to prevent the unthinkable, etc) will not do anything but cause us more heartbreak. We have to look on the bright side, even if in the beginning it seems impossible. Instead of thinking of what you lost, think of what you have gained from knowing that person. The laughs, the memories and the nights and days spent with them filled with nothing but love and happiness. These are the things that you should not frown upon, but smile at. Focus your attention on the lessons and things you have learned just by knowing that person. How in every bit of your life, this person has left a little bit of him/her in it and has made it even better. Make it your duty to leave a little of them wherever you go, making sure you touch the world in the same ways this person has touched you. Celebrate them and the person they became on this earth. Think about how unbelievably better you are for knowing them, and how blessed you should feel because of that. Let the positive energy they left you with fill you up and influence you as you go through your day. Knowing that they are right by your side and in your heart, as if they have never left you. As hard as it may seem, have the gratitude of knowing them conquer the sadness of loosing them.
For anyone who has not known loss or sadness, hold your love ones close tonight. For anyone who has known loss or sadness, hold your loved ones even closer tonight.
In loving memory of, Majid A. Jundi
