I know you are constantly being asked "Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?" and you always have an answer, but it is okay to not have that exact answer yet.
I tell myself, and others, that in the next 5-10 years I want to have graduated college, be married, have a great job, and to start expanding my family. But the truth is, I have no idea if that is exactly where I want to be in the next few years. The only thing that I do know, is that I want to stop planning and let life take me wherever it may.
Dear Future Self,
Everything you have been through has led you to this point in your life. The hardships, the stress, the mistakes, the heartbreaks, the good times, and the best times. The little thing that is bothering you right now, will not matter in five years, or even one year from now. Even though you may be stressed over a huge exam, or sad over a guy, remember that you will learn from these experiences and that they will only make you stronger as a person.
I bet you won't remember all of the times you had a breakdown because you had too much homework, along with hours of studying. You won't remember the time that you spent crying over a guy that broke your heart, or over someone you used to call your best friend. The only thing that will matter is that you are becoming the best possible version of yourself, and it will only get better from there.
I hope that you will never lose sight of the things that are of value to you: Your hobbies, your good friends, your amazing family, and the things that you are extremely passionate about. I hope that even when times get tough, you love your life and that you never take what you have for granted.
I hope that by the time you read this, your life is everything you had dreamed it to be from the beginning. I hope that you are the same person, but just a better and stronger version of yourself. I hope that life has taken you on its crazy ride, but that you always remember how you got to where you are today.
From,
Your Past Self
