To My Bullies,
I hope you thought it was worth it. Every sentence that was said slowly turned into a wound that never healed. Whether it was to my face or behind my back, I hope you had your moment in the light. Every time you thought I was laughing at one of your jokes about me, I was actually wincing in pain from biting my tongue. I couldn’t stand up for myself so I sat there and took in every word you said. To this day, your words are like bullets that still ripple through my brain. This is not a pity letter telling you to feel “bad” or trying to get you to realize what you did to me. No, instead, this is about how every cock of the gun that you call your mouth made my bulletproof vest a little stronger. Every look of hate you gave me compelled me to find enough strength to finally stand up. And last but not least, every backlash of the gun you held showed me that you weren’t that tough either. So thank you. Thank you for making me the strong person I am today. Thank you for forcing me to prove that I can actually be someone. And thank you for showing me that I can, in fact, crawl up from the bottom.
Sincerely,
“That” Girl
