If Bernie Was President

Life would be so much different if instead Bernie was in office right now... Just imagine his first "executive" decisions. Probably something crazy as fuck but at least it'd be tied with some fucking humanity. Like anything he'd propose would be fucking crazy but always with good intentions. Trump's first move was like super predictably shitty. Right? Like, regardless if you support him or not, his first executive decisions were pretty lame. I'll never know why abortion seems to be the most important thing to address, Mr. President.

But then again, I must think about Constantinople and what it must have been like, as its wall that stood for a thousand years, was destroyed by the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman's introduced how effective the cannon was. First of its time I believe. 1453 was the year. Imagine standing behind that wall and listening and watching and feeling it break and fall. And as you sit there in the smoke and roars of a cannon for the first time, but the thing you can hear clearly is the screaming of the Ottoman Empire. They are coming. And no one can protect you. Can you even imagine it? A wall that has protected one of the most sacred places for a thousand years tumbling. The entire city of Constantinople all thinking about how they're about to be raped, killed, tortured, or sold off to slavery. Every. Single. One.

After thinking about that, I realize that it isn't THAT bad that Trump's president.

However, if we lived in a reality where Bernie won. I think things would have been restored. By things, I mean humanity and progress. Look, whoever you are reading this, we're just people, you and I. We should get basic rights and just because of where I just so happened to be born, shouldn't dictate how you view me. It's completely and blatantly obvious that life is unfair and it places people on such a random spectrum. But what you and I know is that we're human. And I think Bernie knows that. I think he wants more people to realize and understand that because the man is STILL fighting for our rights. After Hillary won, she went silent. She pulled a Ronda Rousey and let's be real, no one likes a sore loser. Bernie fucking lost SUCH a long time ago, and yet he still fought for what he believed in. Even AFTER finding out that he was being shit on by the DNC. He would have addressed the need for acceptance in America. He still fights for that today but if he was in office right now, getting all comfortable and shit, he'd make people happy. Even though grouchy Americans that blame their problems on everything but themselves. The thing about him is that he has principles and an honest heart. He probably woulda proposed a lot by now, involving effective healthcare, reconstruction of the broken educational system, instituionalized racism, and the very present division that presides in America. Truly think about it. Do you really believe that life would have been that bad if the old man made it? Do you think, after watching him talk and listening to what he has to say, that he would ever have intentions of trying to ruin you?

Now, remeber that we elected a Reality T.V. Star into office with a severe God Complex.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
