More and more people today are choosing to take classes online instead of going for the traditional University experience. There are many benefits to taking online classes and I am here to discuss a few.

You can live at home!

With the cost of traditional university on the rise living at home can save you a tremendous amount of money. From my own experience I've noticed that those who go away to college before they're ready tend to not fare as well in the outside world.

Flexibility

You aren't being forced to spend hours a day in a classroom. You can do your studying from the comfort of your own home and bed. You don't even have to get dressed. I know for me, doing homework in my pajamas with a tub of ice cream is a bonus.

You can work full time.

While doing traditional college classes it can be really hard to find a decent job that you don't have to work late hours or spending double your time out of your home. If you go to class all day then work all night you can burn out quickly. With online courses you can schedule your own study time.

You make your schedule

Other than due dates you can make your own schedule to study. Obviously you still have to keep up with your course load and that can be a struggle for some while you first start online classes but ultimately it saves you time. I have three children and a part time job and manage online courses. If traditional university were my only option, I wouldn't be able to complete my degree.

It offers a great alternative for those who can't go to university

There are so many people having children younger and younger. While I'm not condoning this, it's happening. I had my first child at twenty. I was a waitress and hadn't started college yet. Or even those suffering through severe depression or a disability that makes navigating a college campus nearly impossible. It is a great opportunity afforded to those who wouldn't be able to complete college otherwise.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
