Yes, it's true: In 2015, I read 53 books. I wasn't planning on it; it just happened. But I am proud to say I accomplished in a year what people accomplish in nearly a lifetime. It would be a sin not to explore this fact in an article somehow. Specifically because my reader friends are always looking for something new to read, and it's safe to say I have lots of suggestions.
Because I study writing for children and I love young adult novels I decided to do a popular -- although kind of old -- book tag called "The Taylor Swift Book Tag," in which I have to relate books I've read to popular Taylor Swift songs. So here we go:
1. "We Are Never Getting Back Together"
For this song I had to choose a book series that I used to love but now I hate it so much I didn't even finish. Mine is the "Lux" series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. After vampires, immortals, and fifty shades of romance, I should have known nothing good would come from reading a love story about an alien and the girl next door. But I did read the first two books in a day. But when I read the third one, "Opal," I realized the author was just stretching out a story that should be ending in that book but would continue for two more books after that. So I decided to finish the third book but I don't see myself ever getting back together with this series.
2. "Red"
A book with a red cover. Surprisingly enough, I read only one book with a red cover in 2015. "A Study in Scarlet" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It's the first Sherlock Holmes novel, and to be honest, not that good, although we have to keep in mind that it was written in 1887. I had to read it for school more than 10 years ago, but didn't remember a single thing about it.
3. "The Best Day"
For this one I had to pick a book that makes me feel nostalgic. So I chose "I'll Give You The Sun" by Jandy Nelson. This book is so true to the teenage voice you will remember exactly what it is to be young and in love. It will recreate the butterflies in your stomach you haven't felt for a long time.
I can safely say this is one of the best books I read in 2015 and one of my all-time favorites.
4. "Love Story"
Pick a book about forbidden love. This was hard for me, actually. The best I could find in my 2015 book list was the "Legend" series by Marie Lu, in which among many other things a girl from the army falls in love with the country's most wanted criminal and prime suspect of her brother's death.
5. "I Knew You Were Trouble"
For this one I had to pick a villain that I can't help but to love. That would be Theon Greyjoy in "A Storm of Swords" by George R.R. Martin. First because he is a villain with a heart, even though he's considered to be weak, and besides there is no way you can hate someone personified by Alfie Allen.
6. "Everything Has Changed"
For this song I had to pick a book with a big main character evolution. I chose "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. I love this book because I think all characters change somehow, and by evolving together they are able to make a difference. If you haven't read this one yet, you really should.
7. "Forever and Always"
My favorite literary couple of 2015. I would say Peter K and Lara Jean from "P.S. I Still Love You" by Jenny Han. That's actually the second book in the series, but I like this sequel even more than the first book. There is not much to explain, just feel. And read, read, read.
8. "Come Back, Be Here"
A book that I would never lend to anyone. That would surely be "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" by Jenny Han, the first book of the series I mentioned in number seven. Simply because I have a beautiful hardcover copy signed by the author when I met her two months ago.
9. "Innocent"
A book that someone spoiled the end for me. That would be "Little Chicago" by Adam Rapp. To be fair, it wasn't a true spoiler. I was supposed to read it for class this semester, and I couldn't finish it before the discussion. So it was all my fault really. No hard feelings about it.
10. "Teardrops on My Guitar"
A book that made me cry. I love books, but I can't actually think of a single book that actually made tears roll down my face while I was reading it in my whole life. But I can think of books that made me very emotional. And in 2015, the best book I can think for it would have to be "Blankets" by Craig Thompson. It's one of the best graphic novels I've read so far, and I would recommend it to everyone. Especially those who think they're not into graphic novels in general.
11. "Shake It Off"
A guilty pleasure book. A book that you enjoy, no matter what other people say. To me, that would be "The Heir" by Kiera Cass. I really don't care. "The Bachelor" meets royalty and dystopian fiction? Count me in. And I thought I wouldn't enjoy this one, because it's a sequel to a finished trilogy, but it's just as good as the original. And I'm really looking forward to the next one.

Happy reading in 2016.
