As we enter the last week with President Obama

One Last "Thanks Obama"

Barack Obama is my president and he always will be in my heart. He is the only president I remember clearly in my life time. He was elected when I was in 5th grade and now I'm a freshman in college and he's leaving office. He is the president I grew up with and no president will live up to how I feel about him. I'm not a fan of the President to be, but I don't even think another democratic president will make me feel the same way I feel about Barack Obama. I will never be able to fully thank him for inspiring me and my generation the way he has. So in honor of his last week as President I would like to say one last thank you to Barack Obama.

It is hard to summarize eight years in one article and whatever I do come up with won't do him justice. So I will focus on his final speech. His farewell address shows what an honest, classy, and caring man he is. All politics aside Barack Obama is an amazing role model for everyone, not just the younger generation. He used his final speech to talk to us almost one on one about what to do next and to not blame the next President. He acknowledges America has its problems and addresses them head on, he doesn't try to push aside the uncomfortable topics. He even took the time to thank his wife, daughters, and Vice President in the most heartfelt way. He shows what is means to be a classy man, even in politics. His speech shows what an amazing President he has been and I could probably go on and on about him but I am going to try and keep this short.

The main purpose of this article is my own personal thank you to Barack Obama. I have been listening to his speeches and following what he has done as President since I was ten years old and today, at eighteen years old, I am at school studying political science. Barack Obama has definitely played a part in why I am going into politics and has inspired me. Hillary Clinton has inspired me a lot through working on her campaign, but it was Barack Obama that laid the ground work. He showed me at a young age how much good you can do through politics and I have always known that I wanted to do something good. Right now is an interesting time to be going into politics, with everything changing with a new leader and a divided America but I will always be able to keep all the good I learned through Barack Obama with me in whatever I do and for that I can never thank him enough.

This article is a very sloppy thank you but it was still very emotional to write. As I said before I can never thank him enough for inspiring me and millions of other Americans these past eight years, but I feel he deserves a special thank you in this last week. Even though he is leaving I will never forget what he has given me these past few years and will keep all his speeches and actions with me as we go through these next four years under drastically different leadership. So goodbye Barack Obama and one last thank you for everything.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
