Artists We've Forgotten About

25 One-Hit-Wonders From The 2000's

The 2000’s brought many great artists who introduced us to catchy tunes and fun new dance moves. Unfortunately, not all of those artists are still relevant today; they just became one hit wonders. A one hit wonder is a band, group or person who makes a song that is a sensational hit but fails to remain famous and in the spotlight. Though the band, group or person continues to make music after their big hit, their relevancy isn’t the same. Sooner rather than later, you’ll wonder what happened to the artist(s) and if they wandered into the abyss. Thankfully, we have websites and apps)such as YouTube, Spotify, Pandora, etc. to listen to and reminisce about. I gathered a list of various hit songs from the 2000’s that (hopefully) many of us enjoyed and listened to.

1. "Milkshake" - Kelis

I wonder if her milkshake still brings boys to the yard...

2. "Fireflies" - Owl City

source: tumblr.com

"It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep, 'cause everything is never as it seems."

3. "We Fly High" - Jim Jones

source: thecoli.com

You can't say "'ballin'" without doing the gesture above.

4. "Laffy Taffy" - D4L

source: makeagif.com

They're definitely not talking about candy...

5. "Turn Me On" - Kevin Lyttle

source: music100.info

Even if you don't have rhythm, you'll try to dance to this song.

6. "Stanky Legg" - GS Boyz

source: bananastandard.com

Who wasn't doing this dance?

7. "Lean Back" - Terror Squad

source: giphy.com

"Now lean back, lean back, lean back, lean back."

8. "This Is Why I'm Hot" - MIMS

source: kat.cr

Who didn't feel hot after listening to this?

9. "Tipsy" - J-Kwon

source: whoopness.com

The tune to this song made you want to break dance.

10. "A Thousand Miles" - Vanessa Carlton

source: makeagif.com

You automatically think about this scene in White Chicks when you hear this song.

11. "A Bay Bay" - Hurricane Chris

source: s614.photobucket.com

The amount of times "A Bay Bay" is said is ridiculous, but you know you sang along anyways.

12. "Call Me Maybe" - Carly Rae Jepsen

source: quotesgram.com

Once this song came out, you found yourself always saying "Call Me Maybe."

13. "Whip My Hair" - Willow Smith

source: giphy.com

You know you whipped your hair at least once while listening to this.

14. "Chicken Noodle Soup" - Webstar & Young B

source: pardonmeduke.com

I guess record labels stopped trying to sign her.

15. "Get Silly" - V.I.C.

source: uncyclopedia.wikia.com

The fact that this song had no real meaning but was so catchy..

16. "Who Let The Dogs Out?" - Baha Men

source: makeagif.com

Who did let the dogs out?

17. "Chain Hang Low" - Jibbs

source: get-lyrics.net

Am I the only one thinking about the ice cream truck?

18. "Hotel" - Cassidy featuring R. Kelly

source: emmyc.skyrock.com

After this hit song, Cassidy tried to make a comeback three years later but we all know how that went...

19. "My Baby" - Lil Romeo

source: en.wikipedia.org

According to billboard.com, Romeo hasn't been on the hot 100 list since this song.

20. "Never Leave You" - Lumidee

source: en.wikipedia.org

My favorite part was "uh ohhh."

21. "Bad Day" - Daniel Powter

source: decplaypiano.com

"You sing a sad song just to turn it around"

22. "Tempted to Touch" - Rupee

source: amazon.com

This song will never get too old for me.

23. "Lip Gloss" - Lil Mama

source: wifflegif.com

"It's poppin', it's poppin', it's poppin', it's poppin'"

24. "Leave (Get Out)" - Jojo

source: tumblr.com

You probably sang this like someone broke your heart...but no one actually did.

25. "Dutty Wine" - Tony Matterhorn

source: popsugar.com

If you weren't breaking your neck while listening to this song, what was the point of playing it?

Even though many of these artists are no longer big in the music industry, their songs are thankfully available on platforms accessible for us to listen to.

Until next week! xx

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
