Taking theaters by storm on December 25th, 2018 "The Basis of Sex" depicting the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the film we all needed this year. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is one of the most accomplished women in the world as she was born into time with minimal rights for women, yet a passion to do more and speak for those without a platform or a voice. In this world today, we all have rights yet we aren't finished yet in accomplishing what we would like to do on this earth.

This film did not only speak to women, yet it spoke to those who were passionate about matters that haven't been communicated on a wide spectrum or brought into the courts. RBG gives us hope in the realization that we are doing something although these laws haven't been made officially, the people of the world are rising and making a difference.

RBG inspires the change that we all seek and think is not occurring due to some of the negative issues occurring in the world. People are marching for their rights and speaking to others about missions and values that they share in order to make a bigger difference in the future. At times we forget that although these laws aren't being finalized in the courts, we are still doing something and creating change for the future generations of our world.

In the film, we are introduced to RBG's husband Martin and her daughter Jane, and son James who are all immersed in the same time frame of fighting for rights that should be granted to all. It was interesting to see how each of the children reacted to RBG and what she was doing besides being a mom with the cases and voice that she had. As she was evolving, Jane took a specific interest in her work and they became very close as Jane had a lot of opinions to voice as well. This established quite the connection between the two making Jane an even stronger role in the film as her mom inspired the change inside of her.

The evolution of their relationship shows that the more that we inspire others to create change due to our own fight for freedom, we can actually make these things happen. It's easy to lose hope today because of all of the difficulties occurring in the world as well as things not getting done, but we need to hold on to the now and what is happening because we are doing something and creating change even if it's in a classroom or an article.

We all have a voice and Ruth Bader Ginsburg did too, she didn't start from the top she pushed herself beyond her own limits to get there. Everyone on this earth has the same chance to do so, it doesn't matter where you come from, but where you are today and where you'll be tomorrow. Don't ever doubt yourself or create limits because you can create the change that you want to see in the world, so start whenever just like RBG did.

"We have the oldest written constitution still in force in the world, and it starts out with three words, 'We, the people.'"

- Ruth Bader Ginsburg

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
