Big Sisters. Probably the best and worst thing that has ever happened to you. On one hand they were always there to show you the ropes and give you advice when you needed it. On the other, they did not (and still do not) always share and can be annoying at times. No matter how much the two of you bicker, you should know that your big sister really does love you. Even if she does not always show it, here is everything your big sister wants you to know.
Yes, we are bossy. Maybe it is just because you are younger that we like to boss you around, or maybe it’s just that we know you will do it because deep down (way deep down) you really love us and will do whatever we say.
We would do anything for you. If you need a ride home from soccer, we will be there in five. If you are just craving ice cream, we will share the carton with you. Big sisters and little sisters have to stick together. You know that if you ever need us for anything, we will always be there for you.
When you hurt, we hurt. No matter how old you get, it will always crush us to see you upset. You are our little sisters, and we have pretty much been drying your tears since the day you were born. You are our favorite person in the entire world, and it drives us crazy when we cannot fix your problems for you.
We are the only ones who will understand just how crazy mom and dad are. Being the oldest, we know firsthand just how unreasonable they are. We have survived every family vacation with you, and we have posed together in whatever ridiculous matching outfits mom made us wear. We also know that like us, they love you more than anything, and we will work with them to make sure that you know we all want what is best for you.
We are super jealous of how much you get away with. Nothing will ever justify the amount of super cool things that you get to do. It is not completely your fault; we were the prototype, but it will always be an injustice to us that we will never get away with half of the things you do.
We will tell you to change your outfit if we do not like it. If your own sister cannot be honest with you, then who will be? We want you to look and feel your best in whatever you wear, and if we are feeling generous, we might just share our clothes with you.
We want to know all the details about your new boo. What does he look like? Where is he from? Do you need us to stalk his last three ex’s on Facebook? Because we will. Even if this is a two week fling, we must have all the details on any guy that could potentially be our future brother-in-law or break our baby sister’s heart.
And we want to kill your ex just as much as you do. Like I said, when you hurt, we hurt. We have already had our fair share of heartbreak, and we will always want to help you get over your ex. Besides, no one does revenge quite like a big sister.
We will always have your back. No matter the age difference, you and your big sister are partners in crime. Whenever you were in trouble, you know your big sister was there to bail you out. We are always going to be there for you. It is as simple as that.
