If you are as obsessed with OITNB as I am, you probably started writing a list with all the awesome low-key savage quotes from this last season that were so in sync with everything that’s so screwed up about our society right now. Here’s my list of all the things I caught this past season:
Judy King: "You're a straight white man. You don't get to play the victim.” Because privilege can make people so ungrateful sometimes!
Maritza: “It's only boys. Once you get the blood rushing to their d*cks, they're like your servants.” I just thought this was a cleaver way of saying women have the upper hand without them even knowing it.
Poussey: “What the f*ck about me other than the color of my skin would indicate that I'm some indigent hood rat?” Don’t even get me started on poor Poussey …

Leanne: “Dominicans. If you're gonna be racist, you gotta be accurate, or you just look dumb.” Yeah, Trump supporters, at least get your facts straight.
Black Cindy: “I'm sorry: Look, we may not be able to act on our racism, like, put people in a ghetto, send them to sh*tty schools...-kill 'em in the back of police vans. But we sure as sh*t can be racist as everybody else, because this is America. Land of the free, home of the racist.” This was so powerful for me. You don’t have to be the oppressor to be the racist. If you’re a minority killing cops you’re just as bad as the cops who killed your peers. And “Land of the free, home of the racist” was such a horrible way to describe how America is looking right now, but somehow low-key still true.
"That's how they get you. With words. They put ideas in the words that make you start thinking... The all of a sudden your thinking: What if other people are having these experiences that are different than mine but totally legit? And what am I'm supposed to think about that before I start judging their lives?" I don’t know the name of the woman who said this in the series because she is one of the new characters. However, she does have a point that the media, literature, and even our textbooks can manipulate our news and our history and we have to be aware of this before we judge our past, other people’s past or other people’s present experiences.
Piper: “Because society has conditioned me to see female sexuality as currency.” We’ve been hearing a lot of this in the media recently. How we shouldn’t believe women to only be sexual objects because they are more useful than just for men’s pleasure. How the human body was not created innately sexual. However, social conditioning has made it look like the above explained is false.
Crazy Eyes: "Girls can like trucks.” Who says boys are the only ones who can play with cars?
