“That’s why it’s Delta Delta Delta for me!” are the last words of a very enthusiastic chant proclaimed by my sister's and I’s voices at various functions and activities. These words, which are pretty self-explanatory, become more and more true as I continue to journey on the path of this whole sorority thing and figure out why Delta Delta Delta truly is the right place for me.
Tri-Delta was one of the first tangible things I had when I moved away to college. I had a house to go to for chapter or for the occasional Sunday night meal, sisters to see daily, and a place to stop by whenever I needed. The beautiful rocks on the exterior, along with the original interior, made this house a beautiful home immediately after I left mine.
There are multiple reasons that this sisterhood, sorority, and Greek chapter became a part of who I am and will help alongside who I strive to become in my collegiate career. Along with the whole social aspect of Greek life or seeing that everyone has struggles or being able to find best friends in a matter of months, I have found that Delta Delta Delta makes me an all around passionate person.
There are plenty of times that my passionate side have opened up windows of opportunities within my chapter. I was able to speak in front of the entire house and alumni members early on during the year about my experience with choosing Tri-Delta and what I look forward to on behalf of my pledge class. I have been chosen to be an assistant to our PR officer, which is giving me the chance to experience what I plan on majoring in. I took a weekend trip to Memphis, Tennessee to represent Kansas State University at the Collegiate Leadership Seminar. I visited the beloved St. Jude Children’s Hospital, took a tour of the hospital campus, and attended the seminar. The opportunities to get involved and find your niche are endless.
As I move in this week, settle in, and start making a plethora of memories in my new home, I am anxious to see what sophomore year will bring to the table for everyone looking for ways to become more in touch with our purpose. Just around the corner, girls will be lined up in front of the house waiting to come in and find out more about this special house. I am both encouraged and hopeful in the fact that as we move forward and become older and pledge classes below my own are looking up to us, that I will have the experience and confidence to look them in the eyes and tell them that if they want to succeed and branch out and showcase their passion for philanthropy and sisterhood, then Delta Delta Delta is the house for them.
