Odyssey Gave Me More Than A Place To Write

It gave me a best friend.

When I first joined the Boston Odyssey team, I was ecstatic to say the least, but I was also insanely nervous. No one who knew me even knew I could write. The thought of publicly sharing my writing made me feel like there was a lot of pressure on me.

But luckily, I had an amazing Editor-in-Chief who eased my nerves and believed in my writing from the very beginning. Becca was quick to show encouragement and always had an interest in how everyone was doing - not only with their writing, but also personally. It made me feel like someone in the writing world had my back. Over the first month of writing for the Odyssey, she pushed me to write the personal stuff that I always wrote about but was too afraid to publish.

She made me a better writer, but little did I know she'd go on to make me an all-around better person.

Within months, I became her partner in crime and the Co-EIC of the Boston Odyssey team. But more importantly, she became one of my closest friends. We have an unique crazy writers' bond that I wouldn't want to share with anyone else. And I don't think I could ever thank her enough for all she does, but that won't stop me from trying.

Thank you for believing in my writing and giving me a chance as an editor. I love being your right hand more than you'll ever know.

Thank you for being my "hype girl". You are one of my biggest cheerleaders in life and can always manage to brighten even my dullest days.

Thank you for being just as crazy as me and joining in on my craziness through texts, snapchats and FaceTime calls... every. single. day.

Thank you for always letting me rant to you about anything and everything that happens throughout the day. I know my rants can be long as fuck sometimes, but you never seem to mind.

Thank you for always inspiring me through your writing and your life, you've made me a better person in the last six months.

Thank you for always reminding me what I deserve in life and to chase after those crazy dreams of mine.

And thank you, most of all, for just being your amazing self. I don't know what I'd do with Odyssey and life, without you.

P.S - Becandra is forever, no matter where life takes us. I love you, my crazy writer in crime.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
