Why Odyssey Was The Best Decision I've Made In College

Let's face it. There really isn't a time you log onto Facebook and not see an Odyssey article waiting to be shared. Your friends share Odyssey articles, your mom shares Odyssey articles, that random person you met one time at a social gathering shares Odyssey articles, you even share Odyssey articles. Odyssey is everywhere. And no one is mad about it.

But like, what really is Odyssey?

As an editor in chief for Odyssey I get asked this question a lot. I have an answer that coincides with Odyssey official language. And that is what I always start with, "We are one of the fastest growing social properties in the world, that gives people like me and you a voice to be added to the conversation going on in the world," but by this point, I always just pause for a few seconds.

I continue with this: "Odyssey is much more than a fast growing social propriety in the world, that gives millennials a chance have their voice heard in the conversation going on in the world. It's a company that changes you for the better. It's a company that wants to give power to the next generations. It's a company that is going to grow who you are as a creator, as a person, and as a leader. It's a company that wants you to be the best version of you and gives you the chance to do that by giving you a community of individuals that are different from who you are, but have the upmost respect for who you are. It's a company that is willing the learn every day. And you can be part of it, too."

Odyssey has been my best decision I have made while in college. To any and all millennials, I want you to consider come and join us. You can be an athlete. You can be in Greek Life. You can be part of your university's outdoors program. You can be a full-time student with a work-study position. You can be a struggling musician, figuring out what's more important music or school. You can truly be anyone and be part of Odyssey.

I always say to the people I onboard, "I can't give you passion, all I can do is correct your grammar." Come to Odyssey with passion about something, and create content about it. Share who you are and learn from other people in your community. That's what we are all about.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
