The Odd Balls Of Society

Why sticking out and making a difference is vitally important in society.

The Odd Balls Of Society

Everyone is different. People have the amazing uniqueness that engulfs every single one of us. Even though we are all unique, we have groupings and clusters begin to form. We begin to share memories together and we begin to connect with fewer and fewer people. The world is a scary place and as our old age creeps in, getting out of our bubbles becomes increasingly difficult.

Though we grow closer together, we must remember that someone will always be the odd one out. If there are three or more people, one person will always be on the outer circle. It is our nature. One person may not have the same shared experience as the other two, which leads to an out-group. These outsiders or odd balls stick out and they do not quite fit into the parameters of society. As society builds and more people connect and grow, more people produce and create odd balls. These odd balls can be one of three things. One: a character that creates great harm to society. This person would dislike the world and society for making them an odd ball and would attempt to get revenge and hurt others around them; these people pose a danger to the fabric of society. Two: a character who is not productive to society. These characters do not care for how people act or think; they do, however, create a social stress. These are people such as the homeless and drug abusers. They are wasting their talent and gifts for nothing. Third and finally is the creative odd ball. These people stand out in a good way. For some reason, they work harder than anyone else. These people make a difference and begin to change the way the society views everything and anything. Examples of these people are Martin Luther King Jr., Edison, Tesla, Einstein, and Luther with the reformation of the church. These people drive social change and create a new world in which they wish to live in.

Odd balls are incredible. Everyone has a story and every story is important to someone somewhere. Everyone has a reason to be heard and everyone has a desire to stand out in a sea of faces. So what leads to these differences in the odd balls? It starts with the battle of the mind. People must take captive every thought if they are to be in control of their actions. Odd balls understand this better than anyone else does. There is a difference between the odd balls, though. Odd balls that endanger society hate society. They feel as if society has wronged them in some way. In addition, they use their mind to think of a rational way to get even and to harm their enemy. Odd balls that harm society but do not endanger do not collect their thoughts, rather they just let them flow out and they are then controlled by their emotions that lead them down dark paths. Finally, the last people: the odd balls that make lasting difference. These odd balls take captive every thought. They throw out the bad ideas and keep the good ones. They understand that every failure eventually leads to success.

The odd balls that change the world are blessed and cursed with a gift. It is that failure is not an option. They may fail on a small scale but they do not give up. When the world tells them to stop and to quit, they do not stop. They never stop. Quitting is not a word that they recognize. They do not stop and they will not stop so they cannot be stopped. These are world changers; they are movers and shakers. So where are they now? Why are they not on the news? Why are they not famous? They are odd balls, so society will never recognize that they even exist. They walk among society working silently and furiously work toward their goals. They ask themselves the same question every day. Where do my thoughts wander?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
