If there's one thing I drink more than coffee, it's water. But coffee will forever be my first and last love. And I will continue to drink my six to eight cups a day just to survive my hectic and occupied life. Coffee and I have a very tight bond, and I doubt anyone could ever break it.
Anyone who knows me well knows that I love my coffee black. It's the first thing I drink when I wake up in the morning, and it's always my drink of choice, as long as I'm not sick. I think it's because the boost of energy it gives me. Black coffee just isn't filled with the sugar and milk or cream to help make it "taste better," so I don't have to deal with the extra taste to cancel out the "bitterness." Black coffee is something so wonderful to me that I can't even begin to describe it, but if I had to try, here are some reasons as to why...
I drink an excessive amount of coffee for the array health problems that I know run in my family. Some of these problems include the heart and diabetes. Did you know that coffee actually helps combat certain heart problems? Researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and Harvard School of Public Health have shown that coffee helps decrease the risk of heart failure by 11 percent.
Another benefit would be how it affects your stress levels. Researchers have proven that just the smell of coffee can help make you feel less stressed. This is probably why I drink so much. I even drink decaffeinated coffee at night to help me sleep sometimes. I can definitely say that this is true, or at least for me. Since drinking coffee, I can now do all this work and keep up with it without feeling stressed when I have my cup of coffee with me.
Yet another benefit is that it has been linked to making an athlete better. The caffeine in coffee has been shown that once it hits the bloodstream, the fatty acids increase so that you can burn more fat while allowing the muscles to work harder.
The last benefit from coffee is the reduced risk of suicide and depression. In a study conducted by Harvard Medical school, when drinking 4 or more cups of coffee a day, depression was decreased by 20 percent in females.
If these four reasons aren't enough, the internet is filled with so many more. These are just some reasons that mean something to me and motivate me to drink coffee; not just for the taste but for the benefits. You should try coffee if you've never had it, and if you have, try it black. You might surprise yourself.
