Obama Reacts To Trump's Orlando Comments
Wane.com

Shortly after the Orlando tragedy, it didn’t take long for Donald Trump to continue bashing Obama and promote his ban on Muslim immigration. He even accepted congratulations from people saying that he was correct about Islam hating America. Trump has spent a great many tweets insulting Obama, Hillary Clinton and Democrats in general. Throughout this election cycle, Obama has avoided reacting to Trump’s inflammatory insults. However, Obama took exception to that rule and had a few words for Trump.

Trump has spent a great amount of time tweeting about Obama’s reluctance to use the term “Radical Islamic terrorism.” In Trump’s terms, without calling it so, Obama is refusing to recognize the threat that ISIS poses. When asked whether all the 1.6 billion Muslims hated America, his response was “I mean a lot of them. I mean a lot of them. There’s tremendous hatred, and I will stick with exactly what I said.” Clearly, Trump views not only ISIS as anti-American but Islam as anti-American too. That means that the 3.3 million legal Muslims living in America must be secretly planning some sort of mass revolution. Maybe they’ll come to steal our guns, or sneak into our homes with Hillary Clinton and strangle us with new tax bills. Unfortunately, his extremist speech has sanctioned many other unqualified celebrities and internet dwellers to speak out on similar lines (Hulk Hogan). Actually, a debate could be had as to whether or not he hates Muslims more than China (Trump really hates China). All in all, Trump doesn’t mince words when it comes to bashing anyone who doesn’t fit his ideal American stereotype.

Trump’s xenophobic, hateful rhetoric doesn’t fly under the radar, but Obama rarely recognizes Trump in a public address or comment. However, on June 14, Obama had some words for Trump. Obama addressed his own unwillingness to call it “Radical Islam” in the hopes of disassociating with Islam. He explains that the West is fighting ISIS, and other terrorist groups, not Islam as a whole. This is a war of ideas with ISIS, which claims to be the savior and protector of Islam in its fight against the West. Obama asked whether or not calling it “Radical Islam” actually accomplishes anything. He pondered if it provided a military or tactical advantage in the fight against ISIS. He answered his own questions by saying that it clearly doesn’t. Essentially, in his words, calling it “Radical Islam” is more detrimental than helpful. Obama believes that by associating Islam with ISIS, he is allowing ISIS to turn the conflict into a global one of Islam vs. the West.

Without mentioning Trump’s name, Obama delegitimized one of Trump’s core policy proposals and exposed its hypocrisy. Despite claiming to be a defender of our rights, he is openly infringing upon our right to practice whichever religion we choose. It is truly mind boggling that the leading candidate in the Grand Ole’ Party is openly bigoted, particularly in the 21st century.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
