Once upon a time, when I was a little girl, I fell in love with New York City. My mom would always take us to go visit my aunt in New Jersey, and we would always take day trips to the city. We would go see Broadway plays, walk around in Times Square, and go shopping. And ever since that first time I went to New York City, I've been in love with it.
There's just something about New York City; I don't know if it's the tall buildings, or the fashion, or the atmosphere, but there's just something about New York City that pulls me in. And I love it all. I love to just walk around the city for hours, stare up at the buildings, and take it all in (even though most of the time I can't afford anything worth buying).
I've come to the conclusion that some people love New York City enough that they would move there; some love it but only to visit; and others hate it. I am one of the people who loves it enough that I would move there. In a second. I would drop everything and move to New York City if I could. And I hope to, one day. I hope that one day (maybe after college?) I will move to Manhattan and write for some great magazine, go to New York Fashion Week, and run around buying Manolo Blahniks and Dolce and Gabanna. That's the dream. Well, that's my dream.
This past weekend, I got to go to New York City. I stayed in Hoboken with my boyfriend's cousin Ashley, and on Saturday, I got to go into the city for the day, shop around, and see parts of the city I had never seen before. I got to walk through Central Park and mentally pick out the tree I would sit underneath on my lunch breaks; I got to go the the New York Public Library and look up at the beautiful ceiling above me; and I got to walk into designer stores on 5th Avenue and try to pretend I could actually afford the clothes and shoes that I was practically drooling over.

Someday (and hopefully someday soon), I want to have a little studio apartment overlooking the city, writing in Central Park on the weekends, buying clothes I probably shouldn't be buying. (Do I want Carrie Bradshaw's life? Yes. Yes I do.) I want to be able to walk down the streets of Manhattan, window-shopping (and maybe going in once in a while and buying something. Are you thinking that my dream life sounds a little bit expensive right now? Well, you're right. My dream would rack up quite a few bills (and I probably wouldn't give me a credit card if I were you). But I hope one day I can do it. And one day, I hope to be able to fulfill my dream of living in New York City -- even if only for a little while.
