Fear not friends, New York City is packed with some awesome music festivals this summer. Whether you are into pop, indie, hip-hop, jazz, ...or whatever else, the city has you covered. Some concerts are free and (unfortunately) some do cost money. But hey, none as much as flying across the country to party in the desert. So East Coast-ers, put on your cute festival outfits (or honestly whatever you want), call all of your friends, and find the festival for you.

1. SummerStage

Hit up SummerStage in Central Park and figure out what day your favorite performers will be there. Check out this list of performers and how to get your tickets. There are events every day and some are even free!

5. BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!

Held in Prospect Park, this concert series is very diverse in its music. Dates have not been announced yet, but it usually runs all summer long. The concerts are usually free but often ask for a donation to be made. Find out all you need to know here.

6. Panorama Music Festival

Brought to you by the organizers of Coachella, this music festival is a three day event that you won't want to miss. In Randalls Island Park, lasting from July 28 to July 30, you'll have the time of your life.

7. Afropunk

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
