New York, the city that never sleeps. Everyone says this place is different than any other place you'll ever visit. I understood the draw to NYC and all its features, but I thought they were exaggerating, until I experienced it myself.
For as long as I can remember, I've always been drawn to the city. There's something about the lights, the fast moving cars, and the atmosphere that I couldn't get out of my head. At first I thought that it was because I was from a small town. I thought that I liked the change, but as I grow older, I continue to keep being drawn back to the city.
As you can imagine, being able to visit one of the most popular cities ever, New York, New York is always a treat. If you're ever in New York, here are some places I highly recommend you take a stroll to.
1. Economy Candy
These days, you typically don't see many penny candy stores around, but Economy Candy is a family owned candy store. Their chocolate covered pretzels are to die for! I'm serious, they're the best I've ever had.
2. Statue of Liberty
This is one of the most iconic monuments in American History. You have to see it at least once in your lifetime. From personal experience, I can tell you that seeing this monument was humbling because it made me step back for a minute and think about all of those who immigrated to this country. It's truly a beautiful sign of freedom. Plus, you get to take a ferry. Who doesn't like a nice boat ride with some phenomenal views of the city skyline?
3. Central Park
This is one of the more scenic landmarks of NY, but it has a sense of natural beauty that can't be overshadowed. Central Park is a great place for a stroll and to soak in the atmosphere. Also, there's usually fun things like street performers and concerts going on.
4. Times Square
Of course if you're in New York, you have to visit the one and only Times Square! When you think of New York, the majority of people think of Times Square. It's the center of the city. All sorts of stores, venues, restaurants, street vendors and performers come here to share the fast paced atmosphere with the public. You can catch a show, shop, watch some art being made, or even visit Hershey's world! I recommend going at night because you can see the phenomenal city lights.
5. 9/11 Memorial & Museum
If you have the chance, take some times to visit this historic remembrance of the events of September 11th, 2001. This truly moving tribute gave me chills and reminded me that you need to take every moment life gives you. I highly recommend going. If you have a chance to see museum, I would also do that too. Seeing those artifacts and hearing those stories about the events and the aftermath was moving. It's the kind of place that has so much substance to it that you need more than just an hour in there.
