Goodbye to the teenage years

20 Quotes Every 20 Year-Old Should Live By
Carrie Spillane

It’s August 10, 2017 and I am officially twenty years old.

It feels so surreal as I look back to when I was younger. Just like nineteen, twenty is a weird age. You are past 18 years old when you are able to have your license (depends by each state), buy lottery tickets, or cigarets (if you do smoke). Then you’re not 21 which you are legal to buy alcohol. Twenty is a special age. It is saying goodbye to the teenage years. You are in college and/or working. You have more responsibilities now. Your relationships with friends and family have grown, broken, or now are being mended back together. Always remember that the past is in the past and what has done can not be reverted. Your maturity has developed (I hope). You know the basics of right and wrong. You know what cruelty the world can be. Though you know the beauty it also brings. You know yourself more and more as each day comes. You know that you should always love yourself. Sometimes you have to be selfish but, no one knows you better than yourself in this whole world. The little things that makes you happy and sad. When your heart swells with pain or beats with joy every step you take. The reasons why you wake up to see another day or you fall asleep to wake up.

Here are 20 quotes that I have taken with me that help me understand myself and how to love what the world has given me.

Quotes have been an important part of my life. They are lessons told to be taught and learned. We learn and grow everyday from the life we are living.

I myself have lived in rural, city, and suburban environments. I have gone from home to home and school to school. I have met a wide range of people with different religions and politics. From different backgrounds of races and families. I have been promised and made promises that have either been kept or broken. I have been loved, in live, and lost love.

But I want to tell myself and everyone else who is turning twenty. Live each day like it is your last. As you can tell life goes by fast and does not wait for anyone. Enjoy the twenty years of life you have lived so far and for the many more years to come.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
