Dear younger me,
You probably have those days when you wonder about your future. Your 4th-grade teacher asked you what you wanted to do in 10 years, or on your first day of middle school your English teacher made you write a letter to your future self about your goals. I'm your future self and you have reached many of those goals, some you haven't, others you're still working towards. You did a lot of things right. You did a lot of them wrong. So this is what I have to say to you...
That first B you're going to get in your 4th-period math class in 6th grade isn't going to matter. It may motivate you to do better, but don't let it absorb you. You aren't the only one and trust me, there are more B's to come.
Get involved in everything you possibly can. You get out what you put in.
Get involved in community service. If it is out of the goodness of your heart, it will mean just as much to you as the people you are helping.
Never fear rejection. It will stop you from so many things you wish you would have tried out for or participated in.
Your true friends will always be by your side. Don't forget about them because you're too busy, absorbed in a guy, or new friends.
Try to get to know as many people as you can and be nice to everyone. You never know the impact a hello may have on someone.
Boys? There will be plenty of them trust me. Get to know them, learn from them, but don't waste your time worrying about him.
If someone lies to you once, they will lie to you again. It is crucial that you remember that, in regards to your friends as well as boys.
With that said, there are good guys out there. Appreciate them.
Find the positive aspect in every situation. It will make you a happier person!
A career? It may take a long time to figure out the path you want to take, but work hard along the way and do what you enjoy. It all falls into place.
It is okay to still have dreams. It is possible to achieve the craziest ones. Move to New York City. Set goals high and go for them.
Be independent. It will open many doors.
Life changes quickly. Live for the moment, plan for the future, but leave room for flexibility.
You may not notice now, but time flies. People grow old and so do your pets. Your time participating on a sports team ends. Cherish every moment and remember to take lots of pictures to look back at when you're older.
Make sure to visit your grandparents as much as possible. They adore you more than anything and need to know that you feel the same. Hold onto them and hold onto the precious memories.
You wouldn't be here without your parents. They may yell at you and not let you go to that party Saturday, which you were dying to go to, but it is because they love you. Respect that. They put food on your plate, shoes on your feet, and a roof over your head. Don't forget to thank them for the small things. When you get to college, you are going to wish they were still next to you, holding your hand.
Lastly, everything happens for a reason. It may not make sense right now, but one day it will!
Love,
You
