Being tall sucks.
It sucks, there I said it. It's not fun to tower over all your friends and to have only one pair of jeans that reach your ankles. You feel insecure all the time because you have to look down at most boys instead of looking up. The cute dress at Forever 21 is perfect until you put it on and realize that it transformed into a shirt. You love wearing high heels but it only adds to your height, making you even more of a giant.
I know these awkward situations all too well. I'm 5'8, which isn't exactly ginormous, but it sure isn't close to my friends who are about 5'3. Growing up, I always stuck out as the tall one. When I was a kid, I used to stay up all night because of growing pains in my legs, kicking the covers off my bed and rubbing Bengay onto my skin. I always dreamed of standing in the front row during choir concerts and class pictures, but when I tried to inch myself forward, I was immediately sent to the back.
So yeah, it sucks. But just because being tall is difficult doesn't mean it always sucks.
For example, when you're at a concert and it happens to be standing room only, you're always able to see over every head. Anything on the top shelf in the kitchen is within your reach. Although some dresses and pants don't take your height into account, you can still rock the latest fashion trends because they're often designed for taller people.
Also, think about Taylor Swift, Venus Williams, Jordin Sparks, and Brooke Shields. You're in the same group as all of them! If they can feel beautiful and empowered because of their height, so can you. Being tall is nothing to be ashamed or insecure about.
Remember that you're beautiful. Girls don't have to be short and petitie to be cute or well-liked. You're tall and that's awesome. Embrace the things that make you unique.
Don't be afraid of your height. Sure, it may be unfavorable. Sure, you didn't chose it and maybe you'd change it if you could (but you shouldn't). Being tall sucks once in a while but it's often more of a blessing than a curse.
So go find that perfect pair of jeans that reach your ankles, buy a pair of high heels and show the world that being tall can also mean being beautiful.
