It's Time To Admit It: Not Everything Happens For A Reason

Just because there is no positive reason, doesn't mean there can't be a positive result.

It's Time To Admit It: Not Everything Happens For A Reason

There will be times in all of our lives when we are faced with tragedy. For some, the tragedies they encounter in life are small. For others, the tragedies are monstrous.

Lately the world is filled with tragedy. When viewing any news source, you will find yourself horrified with the reality of what is going on in our world. From the recent terrorist attack on Paris, to the debate about Syrian Refugees, to the threats in New York -- the recent horrors have caused massive grief on our world.

Everyone handles grief in different ways, and there are no right or wrong ways to react to a devastating situation. I have a strong faith and am constantly a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. But let's face it, as we sit here devastated by the destruction in the world, there is no “reason” fathomable enough to make up for these monstrosities.

However, just because there is no positive reason, doesn't mean there can't be a positive result. We are in charge of our response to disaster. We must refuse to let this pass by without taking it upon ourselves to make good come out of this situation.

I keep thinking there just has to be something we can all do, something we can learn. I mean as we have seen, our country and our world has come together in ways we never thought were possible. But why does it take ripping hearts apart to bring people together? Well, I have a proposal: that we never let this feeling of community and support drift away. What if we stayed a group of people constantly encouraging one another even when life is good? What if we changed our mindset to initiate positivity? Let’s change it for the people of these attacks, lets change it to change the world. Disaster should not destroy us, it should determine us.

After the recent events in our world, I know we are all seeing from a crazy new perspective -- it's moments in our lives like these that can change us. So let it change you.

The video below is an excellent example of someone who refuses to let the horrors of this world make him bitter. He acknowledges there was no positive reason, yet he creates a positive result.

I encourage you all to let this moment impact you and inspire you to do great things. It is good to feel. Let it inspire you to remember life is fragile and so short. Remember to live out your dreams. Remember to acknowledge the things happening around you and do your best to learn from them. Remember the relationships you have with people are far more important than anything else in this world. Remember to live each day grateful for every blessing in your life. Remember to live each day like it is your last, not afraid of the fact it very well could be.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
