A Few Days Of Worship Can Be Life Changing
Hannah DeHart

Now some of you might've read that title and thought, there is no way her life or my life can possibly change in just a few days. Well, to start off I have had faith my entire life but how deep I was into it was questionable, as may some of you might agree with me. I had a very long winter break from college and it gave me a lot to think about and to do for that fact. I was given the opportunity to be a group leader on my church's trip to Kalahari. My church takes this trip every year and it's over the span of three days.

The first day we get there around 6:30 p.m. and our first session didn't start till about 9:00 p.m. later that night. Our speaker for the weekend is a man named David Nasser. He is a very powerful speaker and relates his message to his own personal experience or will even ask us questions to tie the message into something that we will understand. He talked about how people care more about the inside than the outside.

Now we are all guilty of this no matter what you say. A lot of people judge off the first thing we see of people rather than their personality. That has stuck with me. I rather people judge me based on my personal character and how I carry myself rather than judging me on if my outfit is up to date or if I did my hair that day.

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." — Galatians 2:20 New International Version (NIV)

There are people who say that are a Christian and they very may as well be but do they show it? Expressing your love for God and not being afraid to talk about it is such a big step in someone's life.

David spoke on John Chapter 17. John 17:21 states,

"that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."

Expressing your love for God is not something to be ashamed of. Talking about God, singing about him is something you should be proud of. Putting your hand up during worship because you feel the spirit of God moving through you! Break the cliques you might be apart of that are holding you back from who you feel that you need to be!

Being comfortable in who you are is so important! Don't be afraid to be the odd one out in the group. Invite your friends to church, blast your worship music when you're getting ready. Being happy about who you are is NOTHING to be ashamed of. I learned to be comfortable about my faith and I get very excited to talk about God with my friends and inviting people to Church on Sunday and groups Thursday night. I found out that God is telling me to tell people about him, and leading kids towards his word. Showing kids that God is there for them. I was once lost but now I am found!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
