We have gotten to see the girls showcase their talents as solo artists. This time, we have Normani in the spotlight and she's making her solo debut. She dropped her song, Motivation, along with a video paying homage to the music videos of the early 2000s. Here's every pop culture reference in the video.
1. 106 and Park On The TV
If you're a 90's baby, you remember watching 106 and Park after school back in the day. Normani had a throwback clip playing in the living at the beginning of the video.
2. The Intro Walk
This is an ode to Beyonce's Crazy in Love video where she walks up the street in the intro. Normani gives it an updated version with classic denim jeans and somebody rolls.
3. The Neighbourhood
This scene here is an homage to Ciara's 1, 2 Step video taking it back to the neighborhood where we used to grow up where everybody would sit outside and kick it on the neighbors' porch or couch.
4. Group Dance Scene
Every video from back in the day had a dance scene on the sidewalk with the crew. Destiny's Child and Costa did so and so did Normani.
5. The Basketball Court
This throwback is to JLo and Ja Rule's "I'm Real" video. Normani took it back to old school basketball court scene with full choreography and even some tricks with a basketball.
6. The Gymnastics On The Court
Remember when Britney Spears did a full out in the "Baby One More Time"? Normani perfected it and added her own flat to it.
7. Dancing In The City Streets
This is homage to Omarion's Touch music video. The video had two dancers mirroring each other as they danced on the street. Normani and her dance partner did their own version as the city of Los Angeles was in the background.
8. The Rain Dance Scene
Almost every female artist had a scene in the rain in their music videos. Normani took it all the way there during this scene in the rain. She brought New Orleans to the block with a full band played as she danced in the rain.
