Volunteering for our community is one way that you can give back. This is an amazing way to contribute and give appreciation to the area in which you live. There are many not-for-profit organizations in Stillwate,r Oklahoma specifically that would appreciate any and all help! Here is a short list of some of my favorites.

1. Tiny Paws

Cat and kitten lovers rejoice! Tiny Paws is a nonprofit organization that saves orphaned kittens and heals them until they are ready to be adopted into homes. After the kittens are ready to be put up for adoption they are shown at the Stillwater Petco. I personally spend my volunteer hours at Tiny Paws and know they are always looking for people to spend time volunteering. There are several tasks required and the people that run the place are amazing. Donations of blankets and toys for kittens as well as various items are always needed as well! To get into contact with this organization you can call (405) 612-0071.

2. Stillwater Humane Society

Another animal loving not-for-profit organization that is always in need of volunteers is the Human Society Of Stillwater. They serve homeless dogs as well as cats and adopt them out to people looking to expand their families. They are a no kill shelter, which makes them amazing as well. They have many positions available with several tasks as well. They also accept any donations. You may call (405) 377-1701 to get into contact and sign up for volunteer hours as well as to gain any information on the organization.

3. Stillwater Medical Center

Stillwater Medical Center is a hospital local to the area that accepts volunteers. The medical center will train volunteers to specific areas and are very open to anyone who is willing to volunteer. You may call (405) 372-1480 in order to get into touch with the organization.

4. Big Brothers Big Sisters

This organization takes place in various locations all over the world, but has a location that is local to the Stillwater area. Volunteering for this organization means helping young men and women thrive and learn. Spending quality time with the young men and young women would aid them in so many ways as well as being beneficial personally by gaining a friendship. This organization does require background information and will not allow for you to immediately begin because of this. It is however, worth the try and I encourage anyone to apply. The phone number for this organization is (405) 624-9922.

5. Wings Of Hope

This organization aids families who are victims of domestic abuse. They run fund-raisers and have various events to raise awareness and gain donations. They also need volunteers to aid with the various activities that they do. They also require a background check and training in order to volunteer. To get into contact with this organization you may call (405) 372-9922.

No matter which organization you choose to volunteer at, or the reason you are volunteering, these five organizations are my top picks for local nonprofits in Stillwater! Doing the research to find which place bests suits you is very important, and all of these establishments are more than willing to welcome you as well as donations with open arms.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
