Dump Trump

Donald Trump is promising to "Make America Great Again" but in reality he is just spreading fear and hate for all minorities and plans to oppress the oppressed more.

Dump Trump
The Weekly Standard

Okay. Before I begin, you must know that I am not in any way, shape, or form an expert in politics. However, I believe that I have done my research to such an extent that the following article is correct, factual, and very much accurate. I have even been telling myself that I will not write a political article, but I have given up. With voting right around the corner, we must be fully aware of the very real future we could be facing. Donald Trump could very likely be the next president of the United States and that frightens me more than I ever thought possible. It is no longer acceptable to not vote, to not care, to think that your vote does not matter, because it very much does.

So why do people like him? Why are people actually trying to make America great again when it was never really that great to start with? Really, America has never been great for everyone. In our short history, never has everyone been completely equal, free, and great. There has always been a race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation (and much more) that has been oppressed. Unless you were a rich, white man with property, America has not been great for anyone. His platform is based off fear and when fear is the major role at play, nothing good can come of it.

Why don't we start with his immigration policy. When it comes to Latinos, he is not a fan. If you're Latino you may have to prove your right to be in America with every single step you take and Trump supporters may even feel allowed to be outright racist and hateful against you because Trump has been. He has said some pretty outrageous stuff about Latinos, check it out. Let us not forget his infamous quote from when he announced that he was running for president, "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists." (Donald Trump). Not only is this not true, but it is completely racist. He is automatically assuming that every single Mexican is a criminal rapists. This underscores the common misconception that there is a direct correlation between immigration and crime.

Trump is not only planning on building a 1,000 mile wall (that he believes Mexico will pay for), he is also planning on somehow deporting 11 million immigrants in two years. America has always been a melting pot of cultures, religions, races, and ethnicities. Today, immigrants and their U.S. born children make up about 26% of the United States population, approximating out to about 81 million people. How would kicking out such a large population even be possible if we don't have a police state where they can kick down doors and take you out of your home against your will without a warrant? If this were to be stretched out over two decades, it is estimated to cost roughly $400 billion. So unless Trump pays for this out of his own pocket, I don't see this working out very well for anybody.

Trump says that he isn't racist though. What?? He even says that he would unify the races. But Donald, how will you do this when you have personally denied housing for blacks, have called people of color lazy, and supported your supporters when they beat up a black protestor at a rally chanting that "Black Lives Matter". Donald, how come this feels like you are advocating for a pre-civil rights America?

In a country where we are legally allowed to express religious freedom, what would Trump being president mean for Muslims? Well, let's just say complete and utter discrimination. He wants to ban all Muslims from entering the United States until the country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on (watch this video where he personally says this). He believes there is absolutely no choice but to do this. Practicing Islam does not equate to being a terrorist and not enough people understand this. By not enough people I mean everyone. When there is one muslim shooter, millions of muslims are held responsible where as when one white male shoots up a school or theater he stands alone in his act. According to the FBI, 94% of terrorist attacks in the United States from 1980-2005 have been committed by non-Muslims. There has actually been more Jewish acts of terrorism in the U.S. than Islamic. There have been 140,000 terror attacks committed worldwide since 1970. Even if Muslims carried out all of these attacks, those terrorists would represent less than 0.00009 percent of all Muslims. So Donald, why is it that you will not rule out tracking Muslims on a database and giving them special identification that notes their religion? Is it because you are hateful, ignorant, and want to spread your own personal fear? I think so.

What does Donald Trump becoming president mean to women? Well first off, if you ever want to see many of the disturbing things that he has said about women, and there are a shit ton, check this site out (or just go on Twitter). He wants to completely ban abortion except for cases involving rape, incest, and when the pregnancy puts mothers in danger. He wants to punish women who seek abortions when it isn't under these cases. He will make it a priority to get rid of the Affordable Care Act. This act makes birth control and prenatal care affordable for millions. He has even said that he would rather shut the government down than keep Planned Parenthood running. Planned Parenthood is a leading provider of high-quality, affordable health care for women, men, and young people, and is the nation's largest provider of sex education. It isn't the abortion factory Trump believes it to be. It provides so many health benefits to so many people.

Let's not forget the LGBTQ community. Trump may claim he is not homophobic, however his actions and words show a different side. He pledges to sign the First Amendment Defense Act, if it is passed by congress. This act would legalize anti-LGBTQ discrimination across the board. This is completely backwards. Discrimination would be legal against any and all American LGBTQ people in every situation as long as the people discriminating are motivated by religious beliefs. How the hell is this going to make America great???

There's more though. He wants to back track even more. He wants to change the Supreme Court makeup. He wants to appoint Supreme Court judges who would commit to overturning the ruling making gay marriage legal. Trump believes that it should be up to the states to decided if gay people should be allowed to get married just like straight people. He has been a consistent opponent of marriage equality since day one because he is such a "traditional" guy. But honestly, how does this effect you Trump? Why can't you just support love?

I'm not done yet for this community. Not only is he pretty much against gays, he has made it very clear that he would not enforce federal civil right laws to ensure that transgendered Americans be treated equally. This also goes against Obama's work of making it legal for transgendered Americans to use public bathrooms of the sex they identify with. To start with, it isn't fair to transgendered people that they are born in the wrong body but then to put them through hell for this huge thing that isn't their fault at all and make them feel unsafe is pathetic. We should be supporting not spreading fear and hate.

Donald Trump is a successful business man but has never held an elected office. How is it that I need years of education and a college degree for a level entry job but he is allowed to run our country with absolutely no experience and a problem of interrupting his fellow running mate, Hillary Clinton who, by the way, has spent her whole career in politics. He is a chronic mansplainer on subjects he knows very little about. Half of me is waiting for Trump to just be like, "Just kidding! Can't believe all of you really believed I was being serious. Congrats Hillary on being the first female president, you'll do a great job". However, the other half of me knows that he is not messing around and that this sexist, racist, homophobic (and so many other terrible things) man is being very serious and believes he can do the job.

Don't just take my word for it though. You must take this into your own hands and do the research if this isn't convincing enough. We must all come together and actually vote on Tuesday, November 8th for the one candidate who can beat Trump. Even if you aren't with her we must still vote in unison for Hillary Clinton. There should be no writing in for Batman or Beyonce. This is the only way we can truly avoid a more hateful America. Hillary Clinton is more than capable of leading America. She has spent her whole career fighting for families and children. If you believe in immigration reform, equal rights for the LGBTQ community, climate science, raising minimum wage, equal pay, and college affordability then maybe try taking Hillary Clinton a little more seriously. She has been for the people since even before she started her career in politics.

We love to hate him and he loves to hate us. Wanna find out exactly how much he hates you personally? Take this quiz.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
