10 Must-Have Games For Your Nintendo Switch

Nintendo's pride and joy, the Nintendo Switch, has been out for more than a year. Amassing over one thousand games in its library, it continues to grow every month. However, people tend to pick up games that are newer, instead of aiming for the ones that have been out for a while. So, let's revisit some of these must-have games to really make the Nintendo Switch experience click.

1. ARMS

While not quite popular with most gamers due to its lacking content and repetitive gameplay, I believe that this game utilizes the Nintendo's controllers, the Joy-Cons, to their fullest extent. Holding the controllers in your fists and physically punching with them (along with pushing buttons) is something no other game on the system does yet. No matter what the opinion is on the game, you have to give credit where credit is due––its mechanics are quite unique.

2. Minecraft

Let's face it––Minecraft is on every system imaginable. From phones to decked out consoles, why would anyone choose the Nintendo Switch for their Minecraft experience? Simple––the system's portability is great for taking it on the go. And with cross-play for Xbox releasing not too long ago, this game is perfect for local or online buddies to hang out and do whatever they want in a blocky, creative environment.

3. Stardew Valley

What's better than living life? Living a virtual life where you can farm, fish, meet and interact with people, and most importantly––collect fossils for a museum! Stardew Valley is one of those singleplayer games that anyone can pick up and play. Not to mention that its soundtrack is quite atmospheric, especially when the seasons change. (Psst, Nintendo. This isn't a replacement for Animal Crossing. We need another one soon, please!)

4. Hollow Knight

Fight off enemies in a darkened world that you've been mysteriously dropped into with this 2D action-adventure game. While releasing for the system not too long ago, it's been talked about quite a lot around the internet. I do have to warn any newcomers though: the bosses in this game are truly a fight. I personally like this game a lot, but it's really tough.

5. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

A grand adventure featuring Nintendo's main character, Link! This game took The Legend of Zelda franchise in a completely new direction, with a spanning world with tons to do and explore. Venture to discover many Shrines and Divine Beasts and battle many Guardians to eventually come face to face with Ganon himself.

6. Fortnite

It's free and it's popular. Next!

7. Splatoon 2

Even if you don't like shooters––Splatoon's main gameplay––Splatoon 2 will still captivate you with its expansive lore and extraordinary fashion sense. Anyway, Nintendo's fun-filled shooter (and newest IP, aside from ARMS) is crazy popular with its fans, and I believe it deserves a spot in everyone's Switch library, even if it isn't their cup of tea. You'll eventually come to like it.

8. Kirby: Star Allies

A grand adventure featuring Nintendo's main character, Kirby! This game is a callback to Kirby: Return to Dreamland on the Wii, which featured an overarching yet quite basic story. Star Allies has the same concept, but doubles down on it to create an amazing experience quite like no other. In this game, the player can combine abilities to make powerful weapons, and so on. If you want a game that you can play through and relax to, Star Allies is for you.

9. Super Mario Odyssey

A grand adventure featuring Nintendo's main character, Mario! Wait, I'm getting deja vu. Mario embarks on another journey yet again to rescue Princess Peach, but it's a bit different this time around––Mario's hat is possessed by Cappy, who aids Mario on his quest. Sprint through cities, soar over boiling lava, and jump up super high to stop Bowser's evil plots. Trust me, this is not an adventure that any Nintendo Switch wants to skip.

10. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

This game isn't even out yet, but it's shaping up to be one of the best Smash games––no, one of the best games––for the system to date. On December 7th, we're going to be duking it out with all of Nintendo's boys and girls, including some unique fighters such as the recently announced Simon Belmont and King K. Rool. I cannot be more hyped for this game, and it's going to be amazing. Get this in your gaming library ASAP!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
