With finals coming up or already underway, students across the country turn to the Internet for some sort of distraction that can help them forget about finals for a while. Here are some constructive tips to help you navigate the next few weeks and become the scholar of your dreams!
1. Plan ahead.
Start drinking 5-Hour energy now, and get in the habit of taking it every five hours. It'll be rough for the first few days, but by the time finals start, your body will have acclimated and you'll be able to maximize your studying time by literally never having to sleep. Results are inconclusive as to what will happen to you when finals week is done, but regardless, it'll show how committed you are to acing those tests.
2. Put together a study playlist.
This means you should listen exclusively to Fall Out Boy for the next 10 days. Nothing will get you more focused and inspired to be your best self than listening to "My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark" on repeat. Best to turn it up really loudly to share your inspirational tunes with those sitting anywhere near you.
3. Consider your grades.
Take some time to figure out the lowest possible score you can get on your final to keep whatever letter grade you currently have. Now drop your standards a little lower and recalculate. Now that you know you only need an 84.7 percent to pass your class, you only have to put 84.7 percent as much effort into studying as you thought you did!
4. De-Stress.
Take some time to decompress by learning a new skill. For instance, mountain biking or learning morse code are always great ones this time of year. Your parents may ask you, “Why did you choose this week to become so interested in bird calls?” But they just don’t understand your complex and systematic studying habits.
And if your grades aren't as good as you hoped, you can divert your parents' attention to your newfound skills instead of your academic failures.5. Create a quiet place to study.
Library too crowded? Eat something really smelly in the library to clear out the rest of the people in your area. This way, absolutely nothing will get in the way of your focused studying as soon as you finish that egg salad and onion sandwich.
6. Talk it out.
Complain to literally everyone you know about how hard life is right now and how much finals are stressing you out. Remember: no one else is under as much stress and pressure as you are right now!
7. Eat right.
Throw your salad in the trash. Healthy food won’t help you through this difficult time. If you can set up some sort of IV that sends liquid sugar straight into your bloodstream, that’ll be perfect. The health kick can wait until finals are over. Head over to Swig and get yourself a dozen frosted sugar cookies ASAP.
8. Take a break.
Start a new TV show! Nothing clears up your priority list faster than a new and highly addictive show. Now all that stands between you and studying for finals are 10 more seasons of "Criminal Minds!"
9. Look for service opportunities!
Spread positive messages of finals week by tweeting or sharing inspirational quotes and funny memes with your Facebook and Twitter friends. Sure, this may seem like mindless procrastination, but this is exactly what everyone else is doing anyway!
Good luck and happy finals week!
