Jessica Day from Fox's "New Girl" is one of my favorite TV characters of all time. Although she's fictional, she's heavily influenced by Zooey Deschanel, the actress who plays her. She's quirky, fun, honest and totally relatable. Here are nine reasons why she is my spirit animal.

1. She knows it's okay to be weird.

Jess knows she's...a little out there, but she is happy with herself! She encourages her friends to embrace their weirdness as well.

2. She's in touch with her feelings.

Jess is definitely a sensitive person. She knows it's important to be in touch with your emotions instead of letting them bottle up inside. I mean, who wouldn't cry if they saw a picture of a puppy in a cup?

3. She cares about her friends more than anything.

Jess is a great friend because she would do absolutely anything for the people she loves. Everything from pep-talks, to hiding what she thought was crystal meth in her bra. She just wants to see her friends happy, and will stop at nothing until it happens.

4. She's open-minded.

Jess always looks for the best in people. She'll never judge someone until she knows them. She gives everyone a chance and is nice to just about everyone. She can even convince a man with a gun to give up his parking spot.

5. She puts others before herself.

Whether it's her friends, her students, or someone she's just met, Jess always puts the feelings of others before her own.

6. She's a bit out dated.

Jess is a bit of an old soul and is not quite in touch with the most popular things happening in the world today. But that just makes her even more adorable and relatable.

7. She believes in herself.

She knows people sometimes don't take her seriously because she likes to craft or has an obsession with baby animals, but Jess never lets other people's opinions get to her. She believes in herself and that is the most important thing.

8. She has some really cute clothes.

Jess wears a lot of sweaters, high waisted skirts, and vintage-inspired dresses. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a lot of outfits like hers. She loves to wear polka-dots, which happens to be my favorite print. Not to mention, we both rock the glasses and bangs.

9. She's not afraid to be herself.

Jess is adorably quirky, out-going, and sings to herself a lot. Even though some people don't like her style, she would never change a thing about herself. We should all be a little more like Jess.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
