Like most people on this planet, I love "Gossip Girl" and re-watch the series endlessly. "Gossip Girl" has many valuable lessons that you can take from the show, which is part of what makes it so great. Here are nine top lessons I have come up with from watching the show.
1. You always need help.
Just like when Blair worked for the magazine, everyone needs a little help sometimes (even if they don't want it).
2. Best friends are important.
Serena and Blair fight constantly throughout the show but are always there for each other in the end. The lesson here is: maybe be less mean and more there for each other, because having some one special is important.
3. Never let a guy come between you and a friend.
Wether Chuck and Nate or Blair and Serena slept with the same person, there was always a fight about it, so just don't do that. It's rude.
4. Your first love may or may not be your first love, so don't stress over it.
Serena and Dan end up together after being each other's first loves, but there was a lot of in-between business that would have made you thought they could never be together. Everyone assumed Blair and Nate would be together for ever... and she ends up with Chuck. So don't constantly dwell on your relationships and let the chips fall where they may.
5. Don’t take family for granted and love your family for who they are.
There is a lot of family drama that happens in the show. Family members die and come back to life. People pretend to be family when they really aren't. Parents leave and come back. It shows that anyone, even your family, can leave and disappear in a matter of seconds, so don't take that for granted.
6. Don’t believe everything that you hear.
We all know that not everything Gossip Girl puts out is true, so take that into a real-life perspective and don't believe everything that you hear.
7. Be yourself and love that version.
Blair and Serena wouldn't want to be anyone else, so why should you? They rock whatever fashion they want and wear whatever scandal is out there proudly to show people that no matter what, you are you and there's nothing you can do to change that. Jenny takes awhile to get there in the show, but in the end accepts that she is who she is.
8. things aren’t always what you think they are.
Take Jenny for example (again). She wanted to be apart of Blair's world so badly that she ended up alienating everyone else in her life. Now she isn't even in the show anymore. Not everything is as it seems.
9. Secrets and lies will always come out.
Hopefully there isn't a real life Gossip Girl where you live, but since we do have more technology than they did in "Gossip Girl," gossip gets around quick, so don't tell lies and don't keep secrets either.
Hopefully these lessons will help you out in real life and if not, go watch the show for yourself and see if that helps you at all.
