Put your headphones on and listen.

I love finding a playlist for everything! I decided that what better way to start of 2K17 than with a New Year playlist? Some of these are newer, some are older-- but they all fit.

1. "I'm Good" by The Mowgli's

This is a feel good song that literally says the word "good" multiple times. It also references YOLO a few times. All in all, it's a great song to listen to with a fun beat and kind words.

2. "Broken Arrows" by Avicii

Avicii's track with Zac Brown from the Zac Brown Band's vocals is a combination I never knew I wanted. This song is about starting fresh, loving yourself and finding love for others. It's an upbeat tune that really makes you want to crack some glow sticks and dance your heart out.

3. "My List" by Toby Keith

Sometimes, we become so caught up in life and chores and to-dos that we forget to take a moment and appreciate being alive. I've heard this on the radio recently and it reminded me to take a step back, look around, and just breathe.

4. "Hosanna" by Hillsong United

This year one of my desires is to strengthen my relationship with Jesus and grow spiritually. One of my favorite current worship songs is this one. It talks about wanting to be renewed and growing and praising God.

5. "Just Like That" by Garrett Lee

Another worship-y and feel good song I felt like should be added to the list. The instruments, the vocals, and the beat combine to make an uplifting track that I truly enjoy listening to.

6. "This Is My Prayer For You" by Reba McEntire

What playlist would be complete without a song by the Queen of Country? Even though this song is technically a Christmas song, it honestly fits at any time of the year. It's a heart warming piece that has a loving and compassionate message.

7. "Lost In My Mind" by The Head And The Heart

I adore folk music. Another feel good tune to add to your list would be this one. (Can you tell feel good is what I'm aiming for?) I love the harmonizing they do and the meaningful lyrics.

8. "May We All" by Florida Georgia Line

This band never ceases to surprise me with a song that actually has some value behind it. This will probably be my favorite new country song for a while. Also, do yourself a favor and watch the video.

9. "Road Less Traveled" by Lauren Alaina

It's been a few years since we've heard a song by her but I'm all for the women of country music (we need more!) coming out with a powerful theme song for your life.

10. "Pioneer" by The Band Perry

I consider this my theme song. The first time I heard it, it made me feel. I understood why they made it the title of the album. One of the all-time best songs ever by TBP and it isn't even played on the radio.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
