New Year, New Goals

With a new year comes a new journey, new experiences, and new goals.

New Year, New Goals

As we embark on the new journey that comes with the new year, people begin to make multiple New Year's resolutions. I myself do not make resolutions, but I do set my goals. Some may say that they are the same thing but I don't. I make goals all throughout the year while resolutions are made on January 1st. I set goals for each year, goals for each week, and even goals for each day. However, my goals for this year are a little bit different from past years.

My goals in the past always included a position, a title, or something materialistic. This year, however, I have three very specific goals:

My first goal is to be more intentional.

I want to be more intentional with my time, my energy, and my peace. I will be more intentional with who I allow into my life, and how I allow them to affect me. Everyone can't sit at my table, and that is okay. I know what I do and what I don't like, and I know what I do and what I don't want to be around. Therefore, I will not allow my energy to be tainted, or my peace to be jeopardized.

My second goal is to love myself wholly and completely.

I want to love and accept every part of me, even the flaws that are invisible to others. I will fall back in love with myself and my world that I have created for myself. I will not give my time to people who do not deserve it because I am worth so much more than that. I know that I deserve the world and so much more, and I will settle for nothing less. I will love myself more than I ever have before.

My third goal for 2020 is to forgive.

I want to forgive the people who haven't even apologized for doing me wrong. I will be the bigger person, even if I am not literally the bigger person in the situation. I will no longer allow grudges to hold me back from my destiny, and the great future ahead of me. I know that me holding a grudge affects me more than it affects the other person, and I will no longer allow that negativity into my life. I have so much more waiting for me, and I am ready to press on towards it.

I encourage everyone reading this article to make 3-5 goals for your year. Your goals definitely do not have to be the same as mine. However, they should be realistic, achievable, and personal. These three traits will push you to actually reach the goals that you make. My hope is that you become the best you that you can possibly be.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
