We live in a world where we are constantly manipulated to believe that we are to chase the lives of those who are super rich and famous and that everything we read is 100 percent true. That’s cool and all, but these people we all love and admire so much are everyday people like me and you. And all that information we read, literally anybody could have typed. You probably don’t know me and you’re reading this.
It has come to my attention that many believe that people who do amazing things are super human or esoteric and that whatever information we are feed in a professional manner is all 100 percent facts. Why do we think this? Why is this the way of perceiving life that so many have chosen? I think it’s because we have begun to fear stepping out or being a little bit different in our approach to life and our thinking.
After we find out what “they” said and what “they” did, do we really know who we are anymore? I personally know people who feel so deeply that they are defined by what every other person is doing and thinking, that they literally can’t be who they desire so much to be. I feel that many people feel that through following the crowd, you’re simply doing what you’re supposed to do. We end up doing what feels comfortable. We seem to be living in a time were how we feel is more important than what we think. Everyone feels so much that they forget to take a second and think about life. This leads us to end up basing everything we do off of our feelings, leaving our thinking and perspectives at risk. Open-mindedness is good but we can’t be so open-minded that we literally allow our minds to fall out. But come on, that’s just how it is, right?
I understand how following the crowd can work, being that it’s safe to do the norm but is that what one really wants to do? I say this, don’t be afraid to chase whatever it is you want. We all are constantly dreaming and visualizing who we want to be but why not just go do it? We can’t lose what we've never had and we can’t be afraid forever. I mean, I guess we could, but if we don’t give up who we are for who you want to be, how will you know who we really are?
Think about your life. We can't get so caught up with the present that we forget to think about the longevity of the decisions we make. We all need to keep in mind that knowledge is power, and with knowledge, comes understanding. Before we do anything, we should understand why we do it. If we figure out the "why," we will then be able to notice the things that actually matter.
