Being college students, it’s no secret that we spend a majority of our time binge watching TV. As much as we hate to admit it, Netflix and Hulu seem to consume our young lives. But if you think about it, is this really a bad thing? The shows we spend our time watching help us escape our hectic and stressful lives for 20 to 60 minutes, and for this reason, our minds thank us.
Think of your favorite TV show. What makes it so great? Why do you continue to sit in front of your screen for hours, mindlessly getting lost in the world of the characters on the show? Because it’s like your own personal getaway, that’s why. "New Girl" is this show for me, and personally, I believe it should be for every college student. Not to be biased, but the characters on this show are 90 percent of the reason "New Girl" should be your next go-to binge watching show. I’ve also come up with a few others to persuade you…
1. Like I just stated, the characters are probably some of the most relatable people on television right now.
They’re not doctors or crime fighters or policemen, they’re REAL people with REAL problems. Just four friends, living paycheck to paycheck in a mediocre loft.
2. They are not afraid to embarrass themselves… And each other.
3. Like all roommates, fighting and arguing is inevitable.
In the end, they remember why they chose to live together in the first place.
4. What kind of college student would you be if you didn’t nap at least once a day?
Thanks to Jess, we feel better about our lives, knowing it's somewhat acceptable in the real world, too.
You can’t forget about Winston’s logic either.
5. They are just as (or more) emotionally stressed as we are.
That’s something that is nice to relate to.
6. They make you feel less depressed about not having any money
7. Food is important. "New Girl" acknowledges this.
8. One word. Schmidt.
9. When Jess went through her breakup, you could relate to it more than you would like to admit…
And lastly…
