So it's been about a month since we have entered 2016. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the new year for many reasons and now it is time to check back to what we were hoping from 2016 and figuring out if what we had hoped for is all there is in this new year. There are some things people hoped for, but here are a couple things I have realized about the new year.
For starters, there is no point in making a new year's resolution, if it's only for the new year. Every year, people make a new years resolution and plan on sticking to it for the rest of their lives, only to ignore it and continue their bad habits. For example, making a resolution to lose weight. We all want to be healthy and lose weight, but this is impossible if you continue to eat with no control or exercise.
Just some advice, it's good to have goals. It adds purpose to life. If you want to do something, don't wait for a new year. Start working on that goal when you decide you want to accomplish that goal. You want to lose weight, great! Start working out and eating healthy that same day. You want to quit smoking. Awesome! Find ways which will help motivate you to quit smoking. Don't wait for a new year to start changing your bad habits. If you want to get better grades in school, study! Study starting ASAP!
And to be very clear, nothing has really changed from since 2015 ended. I will admit 2015 was not the best year of my life. Of course, neither was any other year if I focus on all the negative things in life. In other words, a new year has no impact on how my life will be. I still go to the same school, I still have the same job, I still have the same friends, and I am still the same person I was in 2015. Nothing has magically changed in this world. Only thing that did was the clock struck 12, a new day started like every other day and with that a new year has started.
Now, I am not saying don't celebrate new years. It's a great thing to celebrate with family, friends, and loved ones. There is a different feeling that goes with watching the ball drop each year and when the clock strikes 12, hugging and wishing everyone a happy new year. With a month gone by since the new year, start your goals when you think of them. Do not wait for the next year. It is never new year new me. It's new day new me. After a month into 2016, I can say that 2016 has not changed anything in my life. Like I said, you focus on the bad, every year will look bad. If you focus on the good, each year will be the best year you've ever had. Look at the bright side of things, and do something about your goals in life. Don't just sit around each new year expecting it to magically happen.
