"Friendship isn't about who you've known the longest. It's about who came and never left your side."
Dear new best friend,
Coming to college and leaving my home was scary, but luckily I met people like you. I was scared to leave all my friends back home, but now that I've met you, I no longer have to worry about being alone in college. Finding you as a best friend has been one of the best things freshman year has brought me. I never knew I could click with someone so well. I also never thought I would actually like a northerner. Even though we may have totally different lives, we are basically the same person, and I'm so lucky to have someone who understands me so well.
Thank you for being there. For all the times that I came to your room crying over a grade or a boy, thank you for being the one to wipe my tears. Thank you for always checking up on me, and always reminding me of who I am and what I deserve. Thank you for the advice I don't always listen to, and thank you for not yelling at me when I do ignore your advice. No matter what happens, I know you're only a hall away. When I need someone to cry or vent to, you'll be there with blankets, chocolate, and Netflix.
I don't know what I would do without you; my life would have less dance parties, Christmas music, and chai tea. Even if we are slammed with homework, there's always room for fun and laughter. Thank you for being the distraction I sometimes need, but also for being the study date when we truly have to get things done. Without you, I would have to face road trips, Cook Out runs, and the gym by myself. Thank you for being up for anything and always being the one I can call when I want to do something. As Kelly Clarkson said, my life would suck without you.
As we both know, we are a lot alike. Being together all the time, we tend to butt heads and get over-the-top annoyed with each other. When this happens, thank you for not taking my rude comments or crankiness personally. Sometimes we just can't handle each other and that's okay, because once we both calm down or once someone we like does something, we go right back to where we were.
So now I don't have to worry about finding friends in college, because I have found the very best one in you. I can't wait for our New York trips, spring break, and our endless adventures that I know are yet to come. Thank you for being the sunshine of my life and bringing so much happiness to my freshman year of college. I don't know what I'd do without you. Love you long time.
xoxo,
your best friend
