A few years ago, America declared that fast food was unhealthy and promoting obesity. With fast food out, America emphasized heavily the concept working out and being healthy. Social media also preached how good it was to be fit through Instagram which gave rise to the fitness "celebrities". With their chiseled bodies, sponsored clothing, and overly-positive attitudes, they took Instagram by storm.

You may recognize the faces (and bodies) of Michelle Lewin, Aurora Lauzeral, Kayla Itsines, and so many more all over your explore page. Although people may disagree with me arguing that they are allowed to do what they want, that's not what I'm trying to say. These fitness models are most certainly allowed to do anything they want like please, blow up your own Instagram with six pack mirror selfies, but please, don't believe you know what's best for people who aren't like you.

First of all, he/she isn't a fitness model without posting pictures of their extremely healthy food. In my opinion, this sends a message to followers that in order to get the body of their dreams, they must be willing to suck it up and only eat healthy from here on out. Trust me, I eat pretty healthy as is but I found it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to commit to one of these crazy diets. Plus if you are an athlete, most of these "fad" diets could decrease overall performance and won't do you any good. So dear (insert fitness celeb name here), have cheat days, your abs won't go away in a day, I promise you.

Okay onto some of these workout videos I've been seeing on Instagram lately. I feel like these models ran out of ideas and started making up their own ridiculous exercises. I've heard horror stories of people at the gym STANDING on dumbbells doing exercises or I've seen people trying to lift or squat incorrectly. I get that over half of these fitness gurus are personal trainers and probably work at gyms and know exactly how to help a client. But most of their followers only see their life via a screen, so they just try to copy what they see to attain the body they desire. This can lead to dangerous health-related problems and/or injuries. So if you're gonna post videos, it'd be nice if you put a disclaimer on there to all of your lovely followers that certain exercises are strictly for professionals. Or offer an easier and more practical option for those who are just starting out.

You ever see the constant promotions these guys are doing like Fit Tea?! Teatox?! Waist cincher?! Teeth whitening?! Who actually buys this stuff? Truth is, aside from being personal trainers, fitness models are PAID by various companies to sell a product to promote that company. Corporations know they will make money because of the person's high follower count and results in more potential customers. It's all very money oriented. So it doesn't matter if your favorite fitness guru is selling a Teatoxed-infused waist cincher, it probably will cost a fortune and do absolutely nothing for you. Keep that money in your pocket.

It's human nature to look up to fitness models who seems to be physically perfect in body and soul. But don't be fooled just by seeing them on your screen, they're just like you and me. I'm not hating on them but more bringing to light the idea that their exact body isn't truly attainable. So if you wish to work out, close Instagram. And find a workout that makes you feel comfortable and works for you.

Cause long story short, you shouldn't be putting all your faith in someone you'll probably never meet.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
