You Are Never Too Busy To Eat Burgers With Papaw
Today

One post that originated on Twitter has been circulating through the social media world, and it probably made us cry, made us angry, or made us want to go visit our family members. That post is from a girl who went to eat dinner with her Papaw, who cooked burgers for all his grandkids, but she was the only one who showed up.

Funny posts have also circulated about beating up Papaw's other grandkids, memes have been made about Papaw as the world's greatest burger chef, fans of Papaw have dubbed ourselves his new "Internet grandkids," but underneath all of that, I think there is a lesson to be learned for each and every one of us in this post. Too often we get caught up in our busy lives, swamped with homework and classes and a job, and we lose sight of what is really important. We ignore what really matters, and that is the people in our lives.

I'm sure each of Papaw's grandkids had a reason they didn't show. I'm sure they all had a game that evening or a big test the next day or work early in the morning. But when you look at the big picture, what is more important: time with the people who love you, or a math test? I don't doubt that since they are all older they all have friends, school, other obligations, but that doesn't mean they should take their sweet family for granted. This post really teaches us to put things in perspective.

I am so blessed to have one set of grandparents that I see just about every day. I am with them all the time, and their house is my second home. But my other grandma passed away when I was in middle school, and I never met my other grandpa. I would absolutely love to meet him and have more time with her. There are a lot of people who never met their grandparents or whose grandparents aren't around anymore, and this post made me so much more thankful for my own.

So go visit your grandparents (and your parents, siblings, etc.), because no matter how busy you are, they love you more than anything. Nobody will be here forever, and we need to appreciate our loved ones while they are here. Don't take anyone for granted, and make the most of every moment with your family.

You are never too busy to eat burgers with Papaw.

Also, if you find yourself around Purcell, Oklahoma, Papaw is hosting a cookout this Saturday in response to the love he has received via social media where you can eat a burger cooked by Papaw and receive a t-shirt saying you ate burgers with Papaw (isn't he just the sweetest?).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
