As the fall continues, I can't help but daydream about the holidays, seeing family, and having a good time. No matter how silly, or cheesy the holiday, I believe holidays serve much more importance than we all realize.
Think about how stressful, rough, and hard life can be sometimes. Everyday people are dragging their feet and dreading the next day, because they know what negatives are in store for them. Honestly, it's sad. Stress can take over a persons view on life, and make them blind to all the beautiful aspects of their lives.
So, think about it? Imagine if we didn't have holidays, or didn't take them as seriously as we do now. Life would suck, period.
Those of us who appreciate and participate in all the holidays, like Halloween, are lucky enough to catch a break! Every year, I'd say the last couple of weeks of October become dedicated to fun and spooky activities. Whether it's pumpkin painting and carving, movie marathons, haunted houses, or costume parties, there's fun to be had!
As for all of the the other holidays, they're certainly here for a reason. Not only do they have their historical and religious purposes, but I truly believe that the way they are commercialized is not always a bad thing. Commercialism, in my opinion, makes the holiday more exciting. The fact that I can turn on my tv and see ads that hype up Christmas, or even thanksgiving, makes me happy.
Do not get me wrong, I'll always remember and cherish the true meanings of all holidays, but I must say, I enjoy holidays for much more than their original purpose.
