People have different opinions on this subject, my stance is that if they gave people a living wage people would be much happier at work. People complain about their visits to fast food restaurants because of workers attitudes, but if they raised the minimum wage maybe just maybe your experiences would be more pleasant. Getting paid the bare minimum gives people such little motivation to do well and be excited about their jobs which then results in these bad attitudes that people complain about.
We tend to listen to the mainstream media and run with the ignorance that they spew out of their mouths, ex: if we raised the minimum wage, the cost of living would increase. What fail to think about is that the cost of living goes up pretty much every year while the pay stays the same, so we must stop regurgitating what they tell us. The other thing that bothers me is that the very same media constantly talks about the economy, at the same time if the minimum wage was raised to fifteen that would boost the economy because more money in peoples pockets equals more shopping which in turn helps the economy. I honestly think that the powers that be fight against it because if they raised the wages there would be less crime meaning less people being recycled into their prison systems, which is one of the biggest source of income in this country and if you think that I'm not accurate in saying this then I urge you to research the prison industrial complex and see for yourself.
So I am for raising the minimum wage because that would mean happier workers, less crime and a start on rebuilding the economy. I also think that it is very sad that we the people have to petition for a living wage if that in itself doesn't show you that they don't have our best interest at heart, then I don't know what will open your eyes.
