20 Things You Need To Know And Digest In Your 20s
Matthew Stevens

The hardest period in life is one’s twenties.

It’s a shame because you’re your most gorgeous, and you’re physically in peak condition. But it’s actually when you’re most insecure and full of self-doubt.

When you don’t know what’s going to happen, it’s frightening.

1. It’s not okay to keep everything bottle up inside you.

Learn to express how you feel. Don’t let suppressed emotions weigh you down.

2. Your grades are not more important than your mental health.

If you need a break, take one. That C+ on your math quiz won’t matter in 15 years. I promise

3. Your body is a temple. Protect it. Keep it safe.

No amount of calories is worth killing yourself over. Your stretch marks are not flaws. Embrace them. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Do not limit yourself to what you see on the cover of magazines.

4. Stand up for yourself. Stand up for your beliefs.

Do not let someone else’s opinion limit you. Stand up for others, for the people who can’t stand up for themselves. Be the voice of the people left voiceless. Do not remain silent in the face of injustice.

5. Life it too short to care about people who don’t care about you.

Stop letting people take advantage of your kindness. You deserve the love you keep trying to give everyone else. If they can’t see your worth then they don’t deserve you.

6. It is not your job to save every troubled person you come in contact with.

They are not your obligation, but that doesn’t mean you can’t lend a helping hand.

7. Sometimes broken things stay broken.

Don’t blame yourself for not being able to put the pieces back together; sometimes the pieces just don’t fit.

8. Never apologize for being yourself.

Never apologize for being passionate about things you love to do. Never apologize for being excited or loud or happy. Most importantly never apologize for how you feel.

9. Take pictures of everything.

It’s so important to capture moments every now and again. Even when your mom is being annoying, take pictures. You never know what the future holds. One day when you’re old and your memory is all hazy you’ll look back at that picture and remember what happiness feels like.

10. If you love someone, tell them.

You only have this ONE life and you don’t want to wonder years from now that maybe he felt the same way had you just told him.

11. The future is so uncertain.

Your life could change in a blink of an eye. Never take people for granted. This includes yourself.

12. Mistakes are just that, mistakes.

Don’t beat yourself up over them. Learn from them so you don’t make the same ones next time.

13. People will disappoint you, but never take it personally.

It is just a reflection of the shit that’s going on in their life.

14. There are very few people who will truly understand you.

Remember that your emotional maturity is much higher than that of your fellow age mates.

15. Never let the fire in your heart burn the people you love.

Keep it lit.

16. It is never too late to become the person you want to be.

You are capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for. The human spirit embodies resilience.

17. Be gentle with yourself

18. It's okay to mess up

19. There will be bad days.

You will feel lost. You will hate yourself but you don't have understand the process al the time. You just need to have faith in it.

20. Take things slow, it's not a race.

Were all going to the same place in the end so relax

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
