The holidays are right around the corner, and for Flagstaffers, so is the freezing cold weather. The first snow of the season is always a beautiful, breathtaking experience. But after a few weeks, it gets kind of old; and by old, I mean the entire university complains about it.

Waking up to the bright surroundings of white snow glistening on the trees and the grass, the tops of cars, and all over the road is a sight to see. Most of us don't even think about the fact that it's quite difficult to drive in snowy and icy conditions, and we wait until we're behind the wheel to stress about how we'll get to and from class and work. The most joyous thing about the snow is that it reminds us of the holidays and it makes sipping on Starbucks just that much more cozy and enjoyable.
But, even after a few days of snow, it starts to get a bit annoying.

We always expect the university to cancel classes, but as usual, it seems like Rita Cheng wouldn't cancel classes unless the entire city of Flagstaff was completely buried in snow. The bus routes typically get switched around and many stops are usually eliminated. It's not rare to see cars slide onto the side of the road with a loose bumper or a broken headlight. Not to mention it'd be beneficial to have a few hundred sweaters, a pair of snow boots and gloves to survive the winter.

It's not that the snow isn't beautiful, because it always will be, but sometimes it's just too much to deal with. Of course, NAU students literally signed up to live in the snow when they applied to attend this school, but there will alway be difficulties that go along with it.
A few weeks from now, when the weather app says there's gonna be snow fall, there will be a few disappointed faces. But hey, we live in one of the most beautiful cities in America and we can't let a little (or a lot) of snow let us believe otherwise. So instead of complaining or looking at the snow as a negative thing, imagine just how much more enjoyable our heaters are a simple cup of coffee is than students who go to ASU or U of A. After all, this is Lumberjack Country.
