Alexa Geiger of Northern Arizona University recently left the little town of Flagstaff, Arizona to venture across the country to visit Niagara University during her spring break. Alexa was visiting coworkers that she met while working at Ripfest Diving Camp over the summer. The bond they formed over the summer lead to a friendship stretching thousands of miles. She spent six days with her friends who showed her all around NU, Lewiston and Niagara Falls. After her vacation she sat down for a Q&A to reflect on her stay.
What do you think of NU's school size compared to NAU?
"It's very small. Your entire campus is the size of just the North side of our campus. I think the small size is weird and I don't think I could get used to walking around campus knowing everyone's name and the people in general."
What do you think about the dining options at NU?
"I think they are pretty good. I'd say for having such a small school there are a lot of options."
How is the weather compared to the weather at NAU?
"The weather is about the same. We're in high elevation so we have cold winds, rain and snow."
What do you think of the people here?
"I think it's pretty similar, there is a large sense of community at NAU. And people are very kind to each other there like they are here. Something random I noticed is that people will hold the door open for people at both NU and NAU regardless of who you are -- which is weird for me being from California."
Do you think there are a lot of fun things to do in the Lewiston and Niagara Falls?
"I thought Niagara Falls was pretty cool, I think seeing it is something everyone should experience at least once in their life. The night life is also very fun. I like that everyone can go out, know each other, and have a great time."
What was your favorite part of your stay at NU?
"Being able to hang out with great friends and being able to meet awesome new people along the way."
What is the weirdest thing you noticed about NU that differs from NAU?
"I noticed you guys have to swipe in everywhere you go. Coming from NAU I wasn't used to needing an ID at all times and signing people in. Also, mainly freshmen dorm at NAU, not many upperclassmen dorm like they do here."
Alexa enjoyed her experiences at Niagara University and cannot wait to come back. Although she's devoted to NAU there will always be a small place in her heart for NU and the people she met while staying there.
