Nature’s Call Finally Answered

In an age of the artsy hipsters and health conscious, everyone is on a specialized diet. Whether it is vegan/vegetarian, the new paleo diet craze, or you’re simply trying to cut out processed food, it’s HARD. As an industry that makes billions off of others specialized needs and wants, the majority of people in the main stream world simply don’t have convenient access to these foods and broke college kid over here can't afford it!

I scoured the industry to find a place in which my health isn’t inhibited by my college status and starving wallet. Often times, it is the healthy people who complain about a large population of obesity in the U.S., whereas the poor are looking through aisles thinking, "LOL, obesity is the only thing I can afford!"

Lucky for me and you, the struggle to a healthy summer of 2016 isn't that far off no matter your budget. Direct Eats is a name you should commit to memory. Whether you are starting a new healthy chapter or simply trying enjoy the finer things in life, Direct Eats allows you to shop for food with total customization!

Now before you freak out, I spoke directly to David Hack, the founder of Direct Eats, to get the inside scoop. In a nutshell, Direct Eats allows you to buy food, health, and beauty products from local artisans across the U.S. who specialize in diets such as vegetarian, tree and peanut free, Kosher, and lactose free, in addition to several other specifications! For those who want the best for their bodies David Hack remarked, "The idea is to promote better tasting and healthy food. It’s all about nature. It's a choice between processed garbage or nature." Which do you choose?

The goal of Direct Eats was to bring flavor, specialization and affordability all into one care package straight to your door. The catch? Your friends will now envy your ability to actually enjoy healthy food.

Because they are a wholesale brand, you can then buy the food in bulk to last you a while which ultimately drives the price down from top competitors such as Whole Foods by 25 percent to 40 percent, and also free shipping, so you literally are only paying for the product!

While speaking to David Hack I asked about the benefits to the consumers as well as the local artisans. Hack replied, "We respect people. If you are going down an aisle and you were looking for salad dressing on a low carb. You would have to look at the back of every label." As opposed to their site which does the search for you!

And with regards to the treatment of local merchants Hack stated, "They are stuck in an archaic system of self marketing. Not treated well by big businesses because they can't brand themselves that well. When they come together (for Direct Eats) they have access to get to costumers from coast to coast."

If it hasn't been made clear, adding Direct Eats to your search bar every few weeks for groceries should be top priority. No longer is their a reason for specific foodies to go with subpar college food or grocery store high prices. In addition to the benefits for your body get ready for a feel good experience knowing you hoped local merchants across the U.S. The call to nature is finally answered, you're welcome!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
