My Thoughts On The Election Outcome

I'm terrified, I’m scared and frankly pretty angry. Receiving the news that Trump won broke my heart. I questioned everything I knew, I couldn't understand how this could've happened, and why would America let this happen? I know many of you might be feeling the same way after receiving the news on Wednesday.

I'm a white female, and I do not feel safe in this country. Marginalized groups such as African Americans, LGBTQ community and Muslims may not feel safe as well. This past week our country has split in half with little to no middle ground between us.

Across the media, you see fighting between Hillary and Trump supporters. Neither sides backing away from speaking their beliefs. Hillary and Trump were on completely different sides of the political system, there is no surprise that we've seen protests break out throughout the country this past week.

Trump is a celebrity, how could a celebrity be fit for office? He's uneducated, has no experience in politics, but somehow he shocked the world and won the election.

I understand Trump supporters, I've heard across the media that he is a “grenade” for the political system, and his limited experience will bring something different before our country's political system goes corrupt.

I believe Trump's campaign was sexist and racially driven, he displayed this at every cornerstone of his campaign. The world had seen these actions that he showcased, but people still supported him. This scares me that half of our country does not see this, or even scarier, they support it.

As a country as a whole, we mess up, and this is a prime example of America messing up. It's times where we are all united that makes America a thriving nation. I believe this is a “mess up," and we will learn from our mistakes or our success in the next four years that will lead us to a better nation as a whole.

With whatever you may be feeling, I want to give you some insurance. The world is not ending. Democracy as we know it is not ending. The fatal flaws in our political system will be renewed with time. This does not have to happen again, when two sides are completely at odds, along with regression and progression, we can learn from this for the future. As a country, we have to move forward, do better and fight the good fight.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
