My Tattoos Do Not Define Me

These days a lot of millennials have tattoos. They are a form of self expression and a true art. Unfortunately, there are still people who feel they need to explain all the bad things about my tattoo to me even though I clearly already have them. The stigma about tattoos have changed and I do not need your opinion of me because of my tattoos.

I chose the tattoos I did because they mean something to me. They are things that I enjoy or things that have an even deeper meaning. Even though, people get tattoos all the time because they just like the tattoo and that is their decision to make. It is my body and I do not need your condescending looks at the grocery store. I also do not need you to tell me they are permanent because trust me I am well aware. I put a lot of time and thought into what I want permanently etched onto my body, but really thank you for the concern you have over a total stranger.

Tattoos are not just a thing that young people do because they feel like it. I agree that must be the case sometimes, most of the time tattoos are to show self expression. The body is a canvas and tattoos make it more alive. Tattoos are conversation starters and they say things that a person may be to scared to say out loud. They make people happy and that's all that really matter. Thank you for the concern that I'm going to regret my tattoos when I get older, I really appreciate that, it's my life though and I can't wait until I'm older and I can look back on my tattoos like a photo to remember the times I had. I can't regret it because at the time it was what I wanted.

I am intelligent, strong, and a good person. I do not need you to judge me just because I have tattoos. You can not think that you know me just because of what is on my body and if you do then I feel very sorry for how close minded you are. Trust me, I will get a job because tattoos are not so frowned upon anymore. I'm sorry that you live in the past and cannot grow as a person as the times do. I do not need your approval because you are a total stranger. I have people who love me even with my tattoos, I just wish you could see that my tattoos do not make me who I am they just add to it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
