My Request To A Grieving Race
women2.com

If you are reading this then you have heard about the multiple shootings in the United States that has ultimately changed our country forever. Now I’m not writing this to preach at you about gun laws or politics. No in fact I’m writing this to you as a reader because I have one simple request from you. My request is simple in theory but right now it may seem like one of the hardest request you will ever hear. My request is that you don’t lose hope.

I’m asking you as a nation, as a race, and as a soul to not lose hope in our species. Right now, that must seem like the hardest thing I could ask of you, especially those that are currently grieving. However, I ask this of you not because I’m naïve or because I think those gunmen should be forgiven. I’m asking this of you because as a race it is our time to come together and to do something and change our behavior. It is time that we look at those who are grieving and decide that enough is finally enough. It is time that we as a race look at each other and ask where the hell did we go wrong. This time in place is when we are given the opportunity to never forget those who have died and those who have lost a piece of themselves from these horrendous crimes. This is the time that we look at all those suffering and use their pain as a fire inside of us to change something.

Now this isn’t an easy task, it will be long; it will challenge us like we have never been challenged before. However when you look at the damage that has been done doesn’t is seem worth it? So no, this isn’t the time to lose hope in humanity this is the time to try and find what made us pure and happy. This is the time to look within you and ask what can I do differently. Some of you may think you have no impact that you are just one small insignificant person in this world, but I’m here telling you right now that you are wrong. Someone somewhere out in the world will look at you and think you are the biggest influence in their world. So don’t lose hope, don’t lose the magic that is here in this world, and above all don’t lose yourself.

It is easy to lose who you are when you are angry and mad or even when you are grieving, however, I ask you not to lose yourself. Find that light that is always at the end of the tunnel and no matter how hard it is to get to that light keep fighting your way there. So yes I am begging you to do the impossible and to not lose hope in a race that is flawed and dark and twisted. I’m begging you to see the good, to see that somehow we can still save humanity and someday hopefully by us not losing hope things will be different. Hopefully your faith in humanity will be the thing that will one day save us all. Hopefully our fight to be better will stop something so horrific from ever happening ever again. So please be kind to each and help those who no longer have any fight left in them and are ready to lose all their hope because ultimately everyone is worth saving.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
